Favorite quotes

Just wondering what others favorite quotes are? Mine seem to come from old westerns and John Wayne.

"Courage is being scared to death...and saddling up anyway"
John Wayne

“Life's hard. It's even harder when you're stupid.”
John Wayne

What are your favorites??

Worriers die a thousand deaths, Warriors not so.

Its a dog eat dog world, you cant swim underwater and eat a dry sandwich at the same time.

Many of my favorite quotes are from Winston Churchill. On one occasion, he called another Member of Parliament a liar. He was reprimanded by the House Speaker and instructed to apologise. His apology was "I apologise for my intemperate remark. I will, however, accuse my learned friend of a terminological inexactitude."

On another occasion, Lady Astor said "Winston, you're drunk." His response was "I am, Madam, and you're ugly. Tomorrow morning, I'll be sober."

Churchill was a master at that sort of thing.

On another occasion, he was seated next to Lady Astor at a dinner party. At one point in the evening, she told him "Winston, if you were my husband, I would put poison in your tea." His response was "Nancy, if you were my wife, I would drink it."

He never got along with George Bernard Shaw, either. They met one afternoon, and George said "Winston, I'm sening you two tickets for the opening of my new play tomorrow night. Come and bring a friend - if you have one. The response was "I'm sorry George, I'm busy tomorrow night, but I'll be glad to see the next performance - if there is one."

Criticism is easier than craftsmanship.

Nothing is good or bad but thinking makes it so.

If thy speech is not better than thy silence, then be silent.

Show me someone who never makes mistakes and I'll show you someone who never does anything.

My dad had one for whenever I said "You know what I wish?" Don't know the origin.

"You can wish into one hand and [Moderator Edit] into the other. See which one fills up first"

I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.

It is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

HAHA. I drove race cars who said that all the time when I said I "wish this had happened"

He also had a come back for "if" (if we had just started on the front row...)
