FedEx Shot guns?

I am planning on going to Canada this summer and we are full timers. Does anyone know if I can FEDEX or UPS my shot gun to a friend to hold?
I don't know all the rules anymore.

You can do that or for about $60 you can get a permit to bring 2 long guns into Canada. If the guns are imported you could have a hassle bringing them back to the US. I'd sent them to a friend.

Last year on our trip to Canada and Alaska I found a Gunsmith in Helena, MT and left my guns with him until we returned. You might want to check and see if you can locate someone to babysit them. I've also heard of folks leaving them at pawn shops. If it was one shotgun I would think about paying the fee and take it with me.

As I recall FedeX and UPS even USPS want ship firearms you would have to fine a licensed gun dealer which would have to ship it to another licensed gun dealer for pickup by your friend.

I know they'll ship a long gun within the continental US, former boss goes on hunting trips out west and ships his rifles/shotguns ahead to the outfitter he uses.

Best thing to do is call them and ask. The rules change so often they could be different than they were last week.

A friend used to ship his to his brother before each hunting trip. After 3 times having them get "lost in transit" he just bought one and leaves it at each location. The airline rules are getting strange anyhow.

You can not ship the gun to a friend at let interstate. You can however ship it to yourself and use the USPS. Some postmasters are very uneducated about this fact. I have taken long guns into Canada for hunting and there is a bit of paper work and a cost might be less than the mailing hassle. But be sure to get the paper work for the US side before you go, if you don't you cant bring the gun back.

Just got back from Alaska, Canada wanted the paper work, didn't look at my 3006. Cost $25.00 canadian or mastercard NO AMERICAN money. Had bear spray, they wanted to see the spray. Alaska or when I went back in to the lower 48 the guy didn't say a thing. Go on line and get the paper work and fill it out. You can take 200 rounds for the long gun.
