Final Paycheck

I have been planning my "Retirement" on 1/1/2014 for about a year now but today I had a cold chill when our payroll department sent me an email letting me that my unused vacation pay for 2013 would be included in "My Final Paycheck". Two things hit home, no more paid vacation and Final Pay Check. "I was just kidding, I am not retiring" is what I wanted to respond. But I took a deep breath and regained my perspective. I have planned ahead and have things in order financially. We are staying in our home but we should be able to travel more in the Motor Home and enjoy this new adventure. I am going through my check list now. What should I make sure that is on my check list as I get ready to make this step.

Thanks everyone, see you down the road

You should put a new pho e number on your check list. This so as the company can never get a hold of you again.

We retired 5 years ago, and haven't looked back once! About 6 months in we did ask ourselves "How do we go on vacation now?" and then decided our vacations would be spent doing absolutely nothing! Our days are spent traveling, riding our motorcycle, or babysitting our grandson.

enjoy & see all the places on your "bucket list". Finish the "Honey Dew List". Keep in contact with some of your co-workers.

I can't wait either...510 work days, 4080 work hours, 244,000 minutes & 1.4 million seconds on the shop floor.. (June 1st 2016)

I always say I have plenty of things to do and work is not one of them....O I so wish my company offered "buy-outs". It would take only a $1 to get me to go. But they just don't do that.

Congratulation on your retirement.
I could not wait for that final check. HR told me I had to take my vacation or lose it. Last day of work. 8/8/2004. First day of retirement 10/1/2004.
Best Vacation I ever took.

Congrats on your retirement! I work with two ladies who can make just as much if not more retired yet they choose to stay and work for some odd reason!! My goal is to retire at 56 which leaves me 11 more years of work!

They don't want you to go, who are they going to replace you with. The work pool is pretty low I hear. Hang in there.

Final paycheck, I know that feeling as I just got mine. I stayed on PT on call only but not sure how much I really even want to do that.

We have so much to finalize before our FT adventure begins in about 9 months. Little by little we are getting rid of stuff. Good luck and have fun!!!

Been retired 5 years + myself. It does take a bit of getting used to but you should get used to retirement in a couple of months. Now, don't know when I had time to work!

Enjoy!

Congrats on the retirement!! The first thing you want to do is cash the Cheque! The rest will fall into place just nicely. Have fun.

Thanks everyone, The final paycheck came in today's mail and its deposited in my bank. I also had to turn in the company American Express Card and iPhone. But they let me keep the lap top computer. Since I have worked from my home for a long time I also had to cancel the company phone, fax and internet service. I just transferred them over to my name. So that is it, I am ready to hit the road.
