We just left New Orleans. The Mississippi is at flood level, but levees protect to 3' above flood level. The opening of spillway gates upstream is preventing water level from increasing any farther in N.O. It's business as usual.

We are now in Berwick, LA a few miles west of Morgan City, which is at the bottom of Atchafalaya Basin. The basin is where all the water from the Morganza Spillway is going.

There are several people here in the campground who live in areas in the basin that are expected to flood. They emptied out their homes and are waiting out the flood in their RVs here in Berwick. Berwick and Morgan City are protected by levees.

We live at the top of a mountain (if you can call the Poconos mountains) - No.

I was caught in the Nashville mess last year. Nothing more sickening than opening the door and seeing water up to the bottom of the belly boxes!

We are camped at Nebraska City, NE. at Victorian Acres...nice CG BTW. The surrounding area is flooded due to large amounts of rain that has pushed up the water table in low lying fields(as explained by a nice lady at Wal-Mart). The Missouri is high as well. We just got back from a Jeep ride down a back road that lead to the Missouri River. It was about two feet from being under water. We had a hard time finding a good spot to turn around and get to higher ground...the bugs were out in force(not at the CG) and we dared not open the windows. We did see lots of birds and a couple of deer plying the waters. The locals say the water is receding, so we're not running. It looks somewhat like the 'wetlands' in Florida...beautiful to look at but knowing it's a hardship for some, it's not a good thing. It's a bit chilly here now that the sun is down. Bob
