You can follow the radiation count on this site.

Radiation Network

The link to Japan is currently broken but they're working on a patch.

Two Ton Tilly says we should get potassium iodide pills. No thanks.

Our hearts go out to the folks in Japan, the numbing loss of life and property, from the earthquakes, sunami, aftershocks and nuclear reactors has got have their nerves completely on edge.
But you are right, there are those here who have an agenda and will hype the situation- ......

Say it's not so!

News Media? Politicians?

They have their new "Swine Flu Pandemic" to tout for the next 4 months.

Word on the street is that "The Sky is Falling!" C. Little

Taking iodide before exposure is confirmed can lead to medical ramifications for our West coast citizens, but I do understand their viewpoint. As if the earthquake and tsunami were not enough of a disaster, now to deal with radiation poisoning, must be soul-shaking for the Japanese.

Here is an assessment of the latest conditions at Dai-ichi. It is not the Apocalypse that the press would have us believe.

While it is true the press is going wild. The thousands of dead and lost are hard facts.

The POTENTIAL of the power plants getting out of control is very real. Nobody has seen what is going on inside the buildings.

The failure of the back-up generators will be examined closely.

The American press' take on this is a lot like the Y2K scare. Much of it is to sell something, which in light of the real toll this has taken on the Japanese people, is as bad as a Gilbert Gottfried joke. IT'S NOT GOING TO KILL US!!!! Don't buy a radiation suit. Don't stockpile water and food. We are safe.

But the true travelers are they who leave for leaving’s sake
Saying continuously, without knowing why: ‘Let us go on’.

Then again... maybe it's worse than they're letting on.

My daughter just informed me that they are now moving US military families and non-essential staff out of Japan. They are being moved to Andersen in Guam and Travis in Calif.

http://www.colorado.edu/AmStudies/le...talfallout.pdf here's a map to show fallout from our own nuclear bombs. What's coming from Japan is insignificant.

You can estimate your own intake of I-131 here https://ntsi131.nci.nih.gov/
Everyone in the USA was exposed to nuclear fallout.
