Genealogy, Scrapbooking on the road - Anyone?

I saw a thread about what we miss on the road. Since we are barely beginning to travel, I thought of leaving my computer and big monitors behind.

Are there others who work on genealogy on their laptop as they travel? Our first trip was partly to find family history sources and see the area where ancestors lived. Perfect use for the motor home! I'm hoping to enter a lot of information into my computer even though it means I'll be spending time inside.

And is there anyone who does digital scrapbooking. How do you manage on a laptop screen!

While I am not on the road, as much as I would like, my primary computer is a laptop. Works fine, lasts a long time. I use Ancestry.com and am very happy with it.

For scrapbook ink, I use my iPhone and Pad. Keep everything in the cloud.

I have a feeling I'll be doing mostly genealogy. I do have a subscription to Ancestry.com and my software needs a lot of updating and cleaning up. But I can't imagine using the tiny iPhone or even the iPad for scrapbooking. I have so many elements, papers, photos loaded, I couldn't find anything. Will have to learn a whole new way of working.

We did find an old monitor from an old computer. Much smaller so we can pack it. Not much bigger than my laptop, but I can move all the extras onto it while working on a page.

Thanks for the reply. I think most RVers are mostly outdoors (may be a misconception) but it would be fun to know how others handle the scrapbooking especially, when they have time.

We are full timing, I do genealogy and run a genealogy website for the county I grew up in. Recently I had some interaction with a couple that had taken photos in some cemeteries in my home county. Their hobby is traveling in their RV and photographing cemeteries for part of the year, then returning to their S&B. I would have to say that being an RVer is a plus if you are a genealogy nut, way to easy to travel to the last known location of that missing ancestor to do research on local records.

As fulltimers we only have laptops. You can get one with a 17 inch screen if you need it or use an external screen. I use Ancestry and Legacy on my 15 inch laptop. They are easy to carry and take to various libraries and other places to get info. I find the sooner I can get it entered in the computer the better I can remember things.
