I see a few of you-ins are like me in that you don't worry about haircuts, 'cept in yer ears 'n' nose. Some Guy wanted to borrow my comb the other day but I said I don't part with it.

What about Women?

Ok guys, you've talked about how you can get your (mostly short) hair. I'd like to hear about women on the road and their experience getting cuts. If you have experience with color, that would be even better! I truly don't know how I will be able to travel without access every 5-6 weeks to my wonderful hairdresser

DW is the best, been 36 years sence anybody else cut my hair.

The only difference between a good cut and bad one is three days.

I am curious about tipping a barber. I have seen anything from $0 to too much. Is this mostly local customs or is there some guideline that travelers might follow?

Great question. My wife used Great Clips once during out last long trip but she really really prefers a "real salon". It is just my observation but it seems like Great Clips always has female stylist and the regular salons have male. ......I wonder if there is some coincidence here?

The park we stayed in this winter had a lady that lived there that would come to your coach & cut your hair.

My DW cuts mine when we are on the road but we would see this lady carrying her small bag going to different lots cutting hair. Generally just set out under the awnings cutting someone's hair.

Another great question. I normally get the senior $10 trim and tip $2 to $4 depending on how I feel. Pleasant conversation and overall experience gets the better tip. If I am forced to sit there and listen to a political or long winded sports rant then lower.

As a retired barber, i have not had a haircut in about 4 years. Just remember to carry a few rubber bands around for your pony tail.
And don't trust anybody over ninety!

Truck stops. The Iowa 80 has an awesome barber shop. 3 or 4 chairs. There is one in Texas Just north of Dallas. I'm sure is gone now but he gave the best straight razor shave ever.

Maybe this is why my hair is down to my waist. Outside of Europe, have yet to find anyone that can cut my hair the way I like it.

Go to your favorite APP store (Google or that Inferior Operating System (IOS)).

Search for GREAT CLIPS

I stopped putting color in my hair a year ago. I only trust my old hair dresser with that, and couldn't get back often enough. After a few disasters with WalMart, we started going to Great Clips. For the most part, they do a decent job. They also put your info into the system, so it is always available wherever you go.
I would ask the girls at the campground where they go for color, only if their hair looks good.
