Check this out - my former employer for more than 30 years, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), just helped out one of our great National Parks:

BNSF Foundation Gives Largest Gift in History of Glacier National Park Fund
2007-07-30

The BNSF Foundation has provided a $500,000 gift over a five-year period to assist the Glacier National Park Fund in preparing for the 100th anniversary of Glacier National Park in 2010 and the centennial campaign that will launch during that year.

"We are ecstatic about this wonderful gift! It will allow us to position the park and the fund for a memorable centennial celebration with key exhibits that will tour the state, special educational programs, a spectacular special event and a campaign that will launch the next generation of philanthropy for the park" says Jane Ratzlaff, executive director, Glacier National Park Fund.

The Glacier National Park Fund works to preserve and protect Glacier National Park through philanthropy from donors all around the country.

The relationship with BNSF goes back to the very beginning of the park. With the transportation of both workers and visitors to early Glacier, BNSF was a critical factor in the development of the park. From the first laying of track to the chalets built by the family of Great Northern Railway founder James J. Hill to the opportunities this gift presents, the legacy of the park and BNSF continues. The gift from the BNSF Foundation represents BNSF's ongoing commitment to Glacier National Park.

"We have a long-standing partnership with Glacier National Park and are proud to be a key contributor to the park's Centennial Celebration activities," says Richard Russack, president, BNSF Foundation.
