Goggle Maps
So here I am yesterday mowing the lawn when I notice this funny looking little car that has a camera on top and a body wrap that says Google Maps all over it driving through our neighborhood. I stop him and ask whats going on, he says he is running through our area to add the neighborhood to the latest Google maps on line. Maybe this will be better then the funky GPS units we use currently.

They've pretty much been all over around our area - except in our specific housing development. It is really slick when you're able to type an address in Google Maps & then drag the little man figure down to the street-view image & actually move through the image as if you're actually there & get 360-degree views of the address typed in.
At one time, I know some were all up in arms that those views were an invasion of privacy because they do capture everything & anyone in view when that camera is making its way through an area. But I don't know if anything has come of the complaints.

We saw the little car with the dome on top last year in the Texas panhandle driving the gravel roads that surround the cotton fields in sections...1 square mile. Now Lori can see a a real Texas cotton field if she so desires. Sorry Lori, I'm not sure 911 has gotten around to giving a specific address to the cotton fields yet.

We saw one on Rt1 where it goes through Bahia Honda SP last April. I think it is great. It's nice to be able to get a view of a CG or anywhere else you are going before hand. Much easier to find your way.

Go to Google Earth and click on Street View.
As a rule, they only photograph public roads.

I use Google Maps Street View all the time to check out gas stations along our planned route near where I think I'm going to need to stop to fuel up. I can see ahead of time how the pumps are laid out and if I think I'll be able to get in and out OK.

Google maps is also good if you know there is an overhead crossing ahead but not sure of the height clearance. I just zoom in on the road in question and look for tractor trailers traveling that road. If they are using the road I know my 5er will fit. I sit high at 13ft 4inches and tractor trailers are 13ft 6 inches.

I used street view to pick out a site when I reserved a spot in Silver River state park in Florida.
