Gone in 3 seconds
Obviously a lot of work went into making this buggy but I guess they can pull it out in the spring.

Some days you're the dog......somedays you're the hydrant. Looks like this was their hydrant day.

Every year, EVERY YEAR there are idiots who drive right past signs that warn of THIN ICE and end up in the drink... Often, unlike the idiots in that film, they are not able to get out of or off of the vehicle in time or the ice breaks up for a big enough hole that walking away is NOT an option.
And what's worse... Not all of them are pulled from the water in time.

By the way.. That buggy looked like some of the jobs they sell at Pep Boys and other places, not a custom thing at all.

Two miles from my home a pickup went through the ice late last winter. It was not retreived until late last summer. Huge fine for the owner. We also hear every year of fishermen stranded on ice floes in the lowere Great Lakes. By and large they are usually rescued by the Coast Guard at taxpayer expense.

Every winter there are a variety of pickups, cars, ATV's and snowmobiles that go through the lake/river ice around here. The other day a pickup went through the ice in a part of the St.Louis River bay. He lucked out as there was a sand bar two feet down. Most of the time the vehicle goes to the bottom. Big fine and big bucks to the tow truck guy.

I subscribe to the rescue policies in the West. When they are rescued they are handed a bill for services rendered.
