Hello,

My grand daughter was rear ended over the weekend. She's worked very hard to buy her first vehicle (2000 Toyota Pre Runner). Unfortunately, it's looking like the appraiser wants to total it. This was a really good truck and she loves it. We would really like to have it fixed...she probably won't be able to find the exact truck for the price we paid- ($6,500.00). Need advice and maybe a fair shop that could fix it...possible frame bent.

OMG is all I can say. I hope she's OK! If the insurance company does not want to pay and wants to toal the vehicle, are you going to go out of pocket to get the truck fixed? Are you going after the other guy?

That looks like a very big area up there. Good luck.

DriVer,

Thanks, Yes, she's ok thank God. I don't want to go out of pocket but when you said "go after the other guy", do you think I'd have grounds to sue just to hold onto the truck and repair it over the cost of the insurance settlement? Just curious, and it's a good thought.

Book value is all the insurance company is obligated to pay which is not necessarily what she paid. I'm glad she was not injured and there's always another vehicle to be found.
