Good Friday Motor Home Accident I-95

While heading Southbound on I-95 on Friday as we approached the Virginia / North Carolina border we noticed emergency vehicles on the shoulder and a single stream of vehicles coming Northbound. At first it appeared to be a tractor trailer was laying on it's side in the ditch but as we passed it we noticed it was a motor home laying on it's passenger side with the windshield facing Southbound. I spent the rest of the trip to Florida trying to figure out what happened and if anyone was hurt. At first I thought it might have been a blowout which caused a 32" plus class A motor home to spin completely around and land on it's side and slide into the should ditch. Well, finally found the news article and no one was seriously hurt however the motorhome was destroyed. The photo shows that the rear end cap came completely off. Child escapes serious injury in I-95 crash The cause - an SUV cut off the Motor Home . . .

Why is it the people in the smaller vehicles want to play Russian Roulette with larger vehicles? When I was driving big trucks that was a problem then (30 years ago) and still is now........

Am I missing something?

The crash occurred shortly before 3 p.m. in the northbound lane of the interstate when a sport utility vehicle cut the camper off near the 180 mile marker in the Pleasant Hill area, troopers said.

Chief Ed Porter Jr. of Gaston Fire and Rescue said in a statement firefighters found the RV overturned and all 10 occupants were outside. The SUV was found on its side with passenger side damage.

Dash Cam
Ours is on with the ignition. Key on, camera is rolling.
Unless you have driven something big, trucks, school buses, coaches etc, you don't realize how cumbersome- lumbersome- they really are.

Patience just isn't there for some drivers. They have to pass to get from behind most larger rigs. Don't know why. Glad no one was hurt in the coach.

X2 Mn Tom. I drove for 32 years. Finally quit about 3 years ago. People are just in too big of a rush. I usually run about 62 mph in the right lane when hauling our 5th wheel. Everyone passes me and I just enjoy the ride and watch out for everybody else.
