Got a coupon for a free glucose meter

also got a prescription from my DR as required. Took it to Wal*Mart to be filled. The shelf price of the meter was $10.97. On the paperwork I got they charged the meter manufacturer $15.97 plus they get a processing fee for taking the coupon.

Now I see that there's a class action suit against WM for not giving full value for returned goods using a gift receipt.

I know there's a bunch of anti-WM out there and this sure doesn't help!

Also WM has two new promotions.
Layaway, if you decide you don't want, they will return your money in store credit
Pricematch guarantee, the will give you the difference in store credit.

Either way, where you gonna spend that few $$ ???
In WM where you're going to spend $20 to use that doller coupon.

Walmart knows how to make money.

Yeah, I still shop there sometimes, shame on me, but I like to gripe too sometimes.

The standard of practice in the retail business is:

IF you return an item WITH RECEIPT. you get what you paid for it.

IF you return it WITHOUT receipt you get the lowest price in the last period of days.

The period varies store to store.

But of course rip off artists who will buy hundreds of dollars worth of stuff when it's half off and return it for full price.. They don't much care about the industry standard.

That case against Wall Mart,,, Will be one of the minority (Wall mart Will Win)

As for the "Free Glucose Meter" Virtually every meter out there is free from one time to another.. The reason for this is simple..... The money is not in selling the meter.. I mean so you give the customer 100 worth of electronics for free or next to it. Then you sell them test strips.. 50 dollars worth of test strips (Wall-Mart price) cost less than five bucks to manufacture. (In another time and place I have access to people who know the real cost, and who buy at cost.. I can not (And by that I mean I very intentionally forget their names) tell you who they are. And I won't say where. For obvious reasons.
Home is where I park it!
