Grand Canyon

We are looking to spend a few nights at the Grand Canyon around Thanksgiving.

Do any of you have any recommendations as to where might be a really good RV park nearby?

I am driving a 36 ft. DP Winnie Journey

Looking for hopefully a full hook up site, but will entertain all parks that any of you prefer.

Thanks in advance.

IMO you need to stay in the park if possible, to experience it to the fullest. Trailer Village is the one inside the park and about the only one around with hookups. Book it well in advance. There is a really nice looking NF campground outside the park about 4 mi away, called Ten X. I think we are going to give it a shot next time, if we can't get reservations in the park. It gets excellent ratings and looks to be in the forest.

I too would recommend staying in the Grand Canyon park and camping at Trailer Village. Fees are reasonable, we paid $37.60 a night for full hook-ups which included taxes. This was for a 50AMP site and cable TV.

The entrance fee into all national parks was increase on OCT 1 2015, I believe it is now $30 to entry unless you have a senior passport or some other discount from the Gov. So you will be paying this fee every day if you stay outside of the park unless you are a senior citizen.

We stayed there 4 days in 2014, and found it to be very convenient and a pleasant experience. The shuttle will pick you up at the cg entrance for visiting just about any venue on the South Rim. There are convenience stores within walking distance. I would go back again

It's already brisk at the canyon. Be ready to heat your basement and use onboard water.

X2; check the weather , check the weather , check the weather, and call the park service a few days before your planned arrival for condition up-date.
South rim of the Grand Canyon isn't as high as the north rim but can still get nasty weather this time of the year.

Is it safe to assume you're going to the South Rim?

S. Rim entrance is 100 miles from our front door! Lots of snow last night, would go up today, but the 4wd Suzuki goes in the shop tomorrow for a new front half shaft. May go anyway. Snow makes it a special place in the winter!

I worked the N. Rim for a couple of seasons and that's my favorite but much further away and closed for the winter!

From last winter!
