Grandparents raising children on the road

Sherri and I adopted our 9 year old grandson and are now full time on the road. We are homeschooling and would like to know if there are other grandparents out there doing the same. Our grandson needed parents and we elected to be that but want to continue our life style. Anyone out there doing the same please let us know.

Good for you!
Step daughter died the same week my wife put in her retirement request so that left two grandkids for us to raise. The oldest has left and just turned 22, the youngest is still with us and is 15. He really enjoys HS so no real chance for us to go full time as we had planned.

If the situation would ever present itself we would definitely do the same. That being said we had a ten year old grandson and know how important peer socialization is. Hopefully you can work out a schedule that he can be involved in some group sports or activities while on your travels. If affordable there are some great day camps that he might enjoy and at the same time will give you a little break!

I applaud you for your loving generosity.... Good luck!

GOD BLESS YOU, Joe & Sherri, you should be commended. You don't have to wait to find out if you have done the right thing. In your heart you already know. Ran across acouple with 2 grand daughters doing the same thing some time ago. Unbelieveable, Takes a lot of strength.

We met a couple who are retired and are caring for their 2 year old grandson.

I have to admire their dedication. That little fellow is all energy and does not have a slow moment unless he is sleeping.

My hat goes out to all grandparents who are still parenting well past their time. It is a mark of a great family.

We love to gab about our RVs and the wonderful adventures that they enable. However, there is, in my not-so-humble opinion, no greater calling than parenthood. Regardless of the actual relationship, be it parent, step-parent, adoptive parent, foster parent, or natural parent of that dear child, you deserve the utmost respect for seeing it through to the end. I am the natural parent of three, grandfather of one, and stepfather of two more. Nothing compares with being a dad. Hats off to all of you. I hope it brings you as much joy as it does to me.

With public education the epic failure that it is today, your grandchild is guarenteed to have loving family with him and a much better education than offered today. For the American children to be ranked 26th in the world is a disgrace.

Your Grandson will learn so much in his "moving classroom", with the best teachers in the world. When he grows up, he will have plenty of stories to tell HIS grandchildren ! What a wonderful thing to share !
