On I-5 in near the base of the mountains north of Redding is a CalTrans warning sign I had not noticed before:

WATCH FOR SNOW (not watch for snow plows)

What's it going to do? Sneak up on you?

My father, USN retired, says he is so old, that when he got his first assignment, to norfolk, virgina, he was told to report and wait for the water. Mabye that is what the sign is trying to say. Have patience, there will be water in time.

Traveling on a rural Lousiana road, in the rice farming area, We came upon a sign that said "UNLAWFUL TO TRACK DIRT ON HIGHWAY" Talk about wiping your feet before crossing the street! I told my dad about it and he explained that the farmers use dual wheeled farm machinery, and they tend to collect mud between the tires. When they get out on the highway the mud clods fly and cause potential hazards to automobile traffic.

They sure have a lot of nerve putting a highway right where the tractors drive.

Not so close. Two Egg is NE of Marianna close to the Alabama and Georgia lines. Sopchoppy is SW of Tallahassee close to Ochlockonee Bay/Gulf of Mexico. Almost 100 by road from one to other. Point to point is a lot closer - about 60 air miles.

Actually, it made good sense. The ground was too hard to plow.

Remember the old saying: "Might as well get drunk, It's too wet to plow." ?
