I wonder who thinks of these signs and also, WHO approved them??

Ours either have to have a simple hour range on them or flashing light on when the school zone is active. I prefer the lights, myself.

The revenue generating city of Glendale, AZ has a high school zone that says 30 mph when red light is flashing.

A number of years ago there was a company out of Idaho called Stinker Gas and they had signs along the roadway kinda like the Burma Shave signs, and yes,I do remember those too.
My favorite one was "Beware of Sheepherders on the way to town"
On the other side of town was the sign "Danger,Sheep Stampede"

"Bridge may ice in cold weather". I guess there is no danger of the bridge icing in warm weather.

OK, I did a search and couldn't find where this was posted, so maybe I'll be the first.

A great Billboard in TEXAS, has a picture of a smiling GORGE W. BUSH and he's saying...."Miss me Yet?"

I always get a smile when I am traveling US 101 just east of Sequim WA and see the sign Kitchen Dick Ln. If you were to follow Kitchen Dick a few miles north you would come to the intersection of Kitchen Dick and Woodcock. Always wonder what our ancestors were thinking.

Local lore has it that back in the day two family farms were located some distance apart along that road. The families' surnames? Kitchen and Dick. Ergo, Kitchen Dick Road.

FWIW

I'm thinking that the English language has changed alot over the years and words that once had no double entendre and no sexual connotation, now do because of the steady decline of the mental capacity of people as a whole.

Granted, then there are places like Newfoundland, Canada, which has a towns with the names Dildo, Placentia, Conception Bay, and so on, where it was definite what folks were thinking about when they got there .

Who remembers when the word "gay" didn't have a sexual connotation to it, for example?

No, and more than likely possible if it's out at a military training facility where they do artillery training.
