This sign was a surprise as Yuengling is known for their beer. They opened a dairy during prohibition to keep their employees working. D. G. Yuengling & Son is the oldest operating brewing company in America, established in 1829.

That's next to the one that reads "Don't chew the gum from this machine it tastes like rubber".

An always intriguing sign on Hwy 49 near D'lo, MS advertises the "Dry Creek Water Park".
I've never taken the time to explore this park but some day...........

When did they move Phoenix to Arkansas? All seriousness aside, the bridge over the normally dry Hassayampa river in Wickenburg has had a NO FISHING FROM BRIDGE sign for at least the past 50 years. On the I-10 well west of the Phoenix Metro area there is a road that goes over the interstate called Sore Finger Road. I would love to know how it got its name.
On the way up to Vegas, there is a town (more accurately, a wide spot in the road) called Nowhere. There used to be a store there called The Middle of Nowhere.
Years ago, the museum at the Pueblo Grande Indian ruins in Phoenix was being renovated. Just under the sign saying Pueblo Grande Grande Indian Ruins was another sign saying Closed for Construction.
My parents used to have some desert property that, back then, was way north of Scottsdale. There was a sign in the area that said BEWARE OF BAD WOMAN.
Btw, the river is Agua Fria.

Back in early 80's we were at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho and went for a drive south of the base. Out in the middle of nowhere was a bill board that said "Watch Out for White Horses in the Middle of a Snow Storm" it was a very hot day and the kids just thought that was the funniest thing they ever saw. It still comes up in our conversations from time to time.

In Ct. there is a diner on Rt. 5 (I believe) called " The middle of No Where Diner"
In Pa. there is a town near Lancaster( Amish Country ) called Intercourse. You can get T-shirts that say" Virginia is for lovers, but in Pennsylanvia you get intercourse!

Gotta wonder about the history behind THAT name.
Guess it's really a town!!

Actually i do know where the name came from.
It used be a ferry crossing on the Arkansas river. the drunks and winos (called Toads by the locals) would take their bottles down to the ferry landing and suck on the bottles thus the name "Toad Suck". The name goes back to the late 1800s. It is near the very nice little city of Conway.
The ferry was replaced by the highway bridge that was built over the top of Lock and dam no 8 and i dont know where the toads go to suck these days.

Would never have thought a driver would ever find this sign to be "funny" Maybe a poor solution, but it is a solution.
BTW, I gave the road up, no patience to sit in one spot for very long, so when the hubby decided to do heavy haul, I came home. I got a job 'dispatching' fuel haulers locally. But thankfully, now I am truly retired.. or maybe just tired.
I keep my CDL current ,, hubbie feels that I may have to come and get the truck one day. Hopefully not but we never know what tomorrow brings so yes we do need a little humor on a daily basis..
Have a blessed day, and a safe thought always.

Our recent vacation out west was the first time I saw the runaway ramp. Didn't know the users got a ticket but a ticket is better than a funeral for the driver and maybe a lot of other people.
I am not a CDL driver, just a semi-retired towboat captain from the mississippi river system. Lot of similar aspects to both jobs.

On US Hwy 70 in Arkansas in the days before I-40 was open all the way, there was little town where Hwy 70 came to a "T" intersection, with the always present small town cop to write tickets. There as a funeral parlor opposite the stop light with a huge sign that read "Why walk around dead when we can bury you for $49.95. Metal coffin extra"
Over the years I watched the price go up and have not been that way in years, but the sign provided a chuckle for most of my youth.

I'm trying to picture a runaway barge ramp in the river.
