Happy Birthday USA from Canada.

Despite some harsh words, we're still friends.

Yes, and don't burn down your house or blow off your fingers while shipping cash to communist China to celebrate your freedom...

Harsh words from leaders, not the people. Thank you.

Last weekend we were at Fort Atkinson, Nebraska. In a ceremony, they did a reading of the Declaration of Independence and then told the stories of what happened to the original signers of that historic document. Of course a few, like Washington, Jefferson, and others, are well known today for their successes not only in the revolution, but after as they charted the course of a growing nation. Many of the others, hounded by the British as traitors, lost their lives, their families, their homes, their fortunes, and never were able to share in the fruits of the country they helped to create.

On this day, as we celebrate this nation's birthday, let's also remember all those, throughout these first 242 years, that gave all they had to secure our precious freedoms.

Politics swings left and right, that’s how freedom rolls, but America remains steadfastly the best place on Earth!

Friends we are. I have many in Canada. I also have relatives there too.
My Granddad (Father's father) came to America in the late 1800's to escape a broken home and a cruel step mother. Grandpa applied for his citizenship and became a Naturalized citizen before he married my grandmother in the early 1900's.
It would take a lot more than some political rhetoric to distance myself from my Canadian friends.
