Been there, done that,, in as moderator/site developer/owner... It's easy when you have people of like mind, (in our case was a good size car club). Nothing this giant by any means, but I "try" to respect the rules,, and other's opinions.. Noboby on earth is perfect,, but the mod's on this site do a good job . Thanks to you all. Might also say I've never given a dime of our hard earned $$ to a site like this before now. I was a little supprised when DW agreed with me on this.

I've tried a number of rv sites...
I've gotten pissed at this one, left for a while, then come back.
I've been a mod on a very large camaro site.
And i own and administrate a small camaro site.

When i was a mod, i tried to mostly "lead by example", i posted a lot, maintained a very visible positive presence on the forum.

Much like RickO does here. Kudos Rick.

I have tried to do the right thing. But I am opinionated.and as such I sometimes go beyond a bit. On the other hand when "some favored people" go off base it is allowed. And that's just not right. Oh we'll time to forget them and move on To forums where my opinions are allowed, if not accepted by everyone.

I quit frequenting iRV2 many years ago due a moderator, (who is no longer a moderator), who improperly and intentionally changed the words and meaning of a few of my posts.

Somehow a couple of thousand of my old posts are missing. I guess they must have been lost in an upgrade.

I recently returned because my new 5th wheel has a forum on this site.

Hope this does not get me banned.....

Ken
I've been online since 1996 and have seen this happen time and time again on different Forums. I have also seen women discriminated against, always allowing a male the last word before closing the thread. If there is a problem with a Moderator, who can anyone complain to?

I moderate three non-RV, non-Travel forums and know how hard it can be to remain neutral at times, especially if I agree with one side or the other. But taking sides or showing any kind of favoritism is the worst thing a Mod or Admin can do. That will drive people away quickly.

I'm a "mod" on several sites and beside intercepting the trolls, spammers and guys cussin at each other, its a pretty boring & thankless job... I stick to guidlines pretty much and would say I'm a fair moderator.

One of the forums I frequent, I am NOT a moderator, but I do get a good laugh at the "heavy handed" actions of the mods there. Its a motorcycle forum and they'll throw you in the cooler for two days for merely mentioning the word "car"... as cars are percieved to be the enemy of the motorcycle....

They have a lot of fun infracting the newbies AND long-timers for a host of other misdemeanors, but its ALL light hearted... Some newbs get all het up over being incarcerated, but in general, if they have thick skin, they fit in just fine... and posting a few pics of bare chested ladies usually gets the "out of jail" card...

Hell, one time I got put in the slammer for talking about my favourite bottle of wine. I was told bikers should only drink beer n' liquer..

Some mignt see that as overbearing... other see it as a bit of fun to while the day away...

and then there are simply a-hole moderators just plain bullying for their own amusement...

And yeah, its a global rule... moderators actions are NOT up for discussion...
Is it against the rules to ask what this motorcycle site is of which you speak? If so, mods can delete my post. I belong to a couple of cycle sites and are always looking for new/good information.
