RED MAN

I'm very sure that you will love the fulltiming venture. I'm still trying to talk my wife into it. I think if her job keeps getting more demanding on her like this last year. She will concider it. We have a couple of trips pland for 2013 where we will be going to FL. Desney World with all the Kids and Grand Kids. Also a cruise with my Graduating High School Class in 2012 or 2013. So I'm hoping that my turn will come in a few years. Good luck and Happy Trails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr_D, before you think about homeschooling and fulltiming, be sure to check with HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) about the laws in the various states. We homeschooled our three children all the way through high school, but our home was Missouri, so we were under Missouri law. If you do go FT and homeschool, you probably want to pick a state for your domicile that is homeschool friendly and offers the usual tax advantages.

As for the 12-year-old grandson, what does he think about homeschooling? If he's into playing team sports, you probably won't be happy homeschooling. On the other hand, if he's into individual things, you may have a chance.

Homeschooling is as much a way of life as it is a method of education. It will involve both you and your wife for some time every day. The rewards, though, can be huge! As for the "social" issue that many people bring up, it simply isn't a problem. There are homeschool groups in many communities, so if you are going to be in a place for more than a few days, you can ask around (the public library is a good place to start), and see what's happening during the time you are visiting.

Oh, one more thing. Our son married a girl who was homeschooled, and they plan to homeschool their children. Both of our daughters intend to homeschool their children when they get married, and one of them is a teacher.

Just an update !!!! Our Daughter and Son-n-Law Had our ninth Grand Child Tuesday 12/13/11 at 11:45 AM. It's a Boy and he is Healthy, weighting in at 9 lbs. 2 oz. Another reason for the Wife not to want to go fulltiming. HA HA !!!! I'm hopeful that by the time retirement comes around she will have enough of the Grand Kids are they will have enough of her. I hope every one has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years.

My thought is...you have raised your children and they should be able to stand on their own two feet. Your children so not be dependant on you and your wife, and your wife should not be dependant on your children. You've done all you can do Since they are no longer living at home, it's time for you and your wife to have a life. Just make sure that you return for a month or two out of the year to visit.....

Just an update:

The wife and I are going on a week camping trip to the Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville, Louisiana. This campground is on the North Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, which is north of New Orleans. We made this trip for the last two years. We go with my Mother's Brother and cousins. My uncle past away in 2011, a couple of months after our last trip. He will be very much missed. We go to a couple of Mardi Gras Parades and to some casinos. Hopfully that one day my wife will see that this life is obtainable.

Have fun, John! Personally speaking, I'm with your wife. I love the RV and I love traveling in it...but I also LOVE coming "home" to my house. We don't ever plan to fulltime, unless something unforeseen happens.

Just enjoy your trips! Is it possible for you to go by yourself for a few weeks/months? I'm sure there's a happy medium for you and your wife.
