Help with LED Lighting on NOT an RV

This is a little off an RV topic but I'm thinking the expertise is here as a lot of you have installed LED lighting and remote controls.
I have a summer condo which has a stairs tower going to my condo. We just recently enclosed the top openings of the tower with windows to help curb the resting of the stairs and also the dirt which accumulates in a seashore environment. The motif of the tower was supposed to mimic a lighthouse so with the addition of the windows it looks more like one now than it did before.
Now we'd like to add some colored lighting inside that will put off a strong glow as opposed to beaming light over the water. I'd also like to be able to control the lighting to possibly cycle through a red-white-blue, for holidays, maybe red-white for Christmas, and there is an Irish Festival Weekend where we'd like to use green. Other colors would be great too.
So.......does anyone have experience with LEDs capable of doing what I'm looking for? Can you tell me where to start searching for parts/kits?
BTW - I am a member of the board for the association and already have permission to add lighting.

Go to Lowes and/or Home Depot and look at what they have, the last time I was looking they had increased the different type of LED lighting they had and I believe they had remote controlled units with color variation.

If you can'f find that look on EBAY to get some idea's. If nothing else it will educate you on what might be available.

I bought supplies from Ebay to do under cabinet lighting for a kitchen remodel.

There are many.. I think Radio Shack has an offering and as the company deflates some stores have good prices.. You can likely find 'em at big box home improvement stores ECO-LEDs (You find at RV stores) has an entry in the field, Expensive but very very very first quality.
Here is a PDF file describing one Radio Shack Product.

I think you should check out the Eco-LED product though.

Here are some competing products.. I have not tried them.

This last one is a catalog page. Some interesting stuff here.....

Thanks folks. Just looking for a place to start. I guess more to the point was I didn't just want LEDs but there has to be different strength ones and I was looking for something that would give a good glow to a room size 20x20. I don't really want to see the lights as much as a glow. But I may have to make the lights visible in order to get what I'm looking for.
I'll take a look at the places you've passed on here and see if something catches me for what I want to do.
