Hi Mekanic,
For the final answer, consider going to post #1 in this thread. There you'll find the email address to contact PFJ.

Gut feel says a debit card receives the cash price and discount as any other payment method.

1. At the truck pumps the payment method is not known until you go into pay. By that time, one will have closed the sale by returning the filling nozzle to the pump. The cashier is just receiving your payment. They can not change the price, you paid, that was posted on the pump. The cash price and discount will appear on the pump as one completes the pump start process.

2. At the RV/Auto pumps, the cash price is always available. Now here is the hard part. I have never tried a debit card at the RV/Auto pumps. Therefore, I do not know if the discount (3 cents a gallon) will be offered a debit card. For me, I feel it would be.

......
For the record I have read post #1. that where it tells me to sign up my card online or in the store. so at the Cannonsburg KY Flying J I am told there is no discount card for anyone other than OTR truck drivers.

So it seems its like figureing out what came first the chicken or the egg??

My RV holds 100 gallons of fuel, and gets 10.0-10.5 MPG so as you can see I can be picky about where and when I stop for fuel. It is where I can get it for less.

Hi Mekanic,
The situation mentioned in your post 493 continues to be chronic and pervasive. I have forwarded the information to PFJ.

Today I filled up at the truck pumps at the Pilot on I64, exit 211, in Virginia. Everything worked as advertised (pump start, cash price and discount). There was a new twist at the truck pumps. My receipt stated the discount separately. It was the same kind of receipt one would receive if one used the RV pumps. I do not know if this is unique to this location or pervasive across the company.

I tried to fill my motorhome today at the flying J in the north end of Saskatoon, Sk. I pulled in to the RV pumps, went in to the store for an authorization and nobody there (3 females) had any idea what to do, or even what I was talking about. This same thing happened at the same station a few weeks ago.

In both cases I left without fuel!

If the two previous posters would have taken the time to read the FJ RV Travel Guide, I'm sure they would have seen that FJ locations in Canada do NOT offer the discount program. A little knowledge is a GOOD thing.

Personally, I'm happy people like MC don't use FJ stations......shorter lines at the RV lanes is the result.

I helped to make the lines shorter this summer so you could pay those higher prices.

Out of my 8 fill ups for Diesel only one was at a Flying J for $3.969 including the 3 discount.
6 were at a Murphy's that ran from $3.929 to $3.619.
And one Tom Thumb for $3.739.
That high & low price at Murphy's was at the same station from May to September.

In the past 9 years 7 of those fill ups would have been at a Flying J.
They are no longer the low price leader or even close to it.

Loved the Murphy's 10 discount this summer.

Thank You RJay, I agree.

Careful Triker56, I agree with you too.
You might be in bad company.

DandS...If YOU had taken the time to read my post, you would have discovered that I was only trying to buy diesel fuel from FJ. I wasn't looking for any discount program; I was trying to get them to authorize my credit card and turn on the pump. They could not do that. In other words, they don't know how to play by their own rules.

Twice in two attempts. Who should read their rule book? Do you suppose they should learn how to start their pumps for customers (with good cards, btw- before you head off in that direction)?

I didn't berate anyone, and I still won't even though I have a candidate very deserving of a shot!

Hi jim.Smith,

You are correct, my apology for assuming there was a problem with the PFJ Frequent Fueler Program. The process may be different in Canada. At the RV pumps, in Canada, does a customer insert their CC at the pump, to start the pump?
