You don't have to attend anything at the local lodge if you don't want to.

We have MANY members who never go to meetings, etc but use the RV parks everywhere in the country.

So your membership card would have gotten you in at all the places you go.

Like the other large organizations....Moose, Mason's, Odd Fellows, American Legion, etc our membership is falling off.

So some Lodges close, or merge, due to a drop of people joining.

We've come a long way, In the mid-eighties most FHU were in the teens, usually low teens, and on a trip to the West coast, SamsTown in Las Vegas was $8.88. Remember leaving a campground in Maine because they were over $20. Now we just grunt when they get into the dusty part of the wallet...
On the other hand just glad we still can....

Just checked into Aztec RV Resort in Margate, FL. $700 for the week.

Super nice place. Gated Class A Resort. The escort hosed the pavers down before I backed in to prevent tire marks.

Surrounded by Newmars, Prevosts, etc.... Surprised they let me in.

Passport America has 400 member parks in Florida. Many of them block out the winter months though.

Aye, the $40-60 a night average was one reason I ended up doing a whole lot Wallydocking, truck stops, and Casinos on my last big adventure , that and Florida is kinda on the bottom of my visit list , so not too worried there.

You must keep in mind the value of real estate in FL. One mobile home park on the East coast was bought by a developer. The residents owned their lot. The developer offered each of them one million dollars for each lot
Florida does not have income taxes, revenue must come from sales and other forms of taxes. The huge influx of snowbirds places a strain on resources and infrastructure. IMO it is only fair that out-of-state visitors help pay for that.
We pay >$1,000/month+elect to winter at a FL RV park because it is where we want to stay. I never have been in a FL place where they charged for water.
