Home Refrigerator Quit Freezer Works Fine

Our Refrigerator is a 3 door Samsung less then 2yrs old. The cooling unit in top Refrigerator part has gone out twice once under warranty and now NOT under warranty. I have estimates of around $500.00 to replace the cooling unit. So we are thinking rather then dump $500 into something that it may happen again, we will just buy a new Refrigerator for around $1200 THAT IS NOT A SAMSUNG....

My Question is.... Do you think I can take the whole Refrigerator and put it in the garage and still use the Freezer (remember it has 2 cooling units and the freezer works fine) and then use the top after I take the doors off and use it for storage?.......

Thanks LeeB.........

Not familiar with that Samsung but if food compartment is NOT dependent on cooling from freezer section (no connections..no fans.....separate thermostats etc) then set it out in garage and run it.

Just remember IF freezer stops you would need back up plan for the frozen food.

RF217ACRS/XAA..... I was surprised that I called 3 different service people and non of them worked on Samsung.......

They may make good phones but Refrigerator's not so much......

Toss it as the value of frozen food too much.

Have had freezers fail...

Check with your local utility for rebate programs as many have trade up programs where you buy new and get bucks back and they pick it up.

Used units are real cheap on cl due to folks changing style so never consider using faulty one.

Use whole thing for storage or scrap it.
