21 below zero at noon today with wind chills to 50 below. The high for today was 14 below and that was at 12:10 last night.

Back in MN, they complain about -18.
It is those under 40 that did not see what WE did:
Changing the oil. In the driveway. At -30. Because it was simply time for it to be done.
Cold enough to require rocking the car back and forth until the differential finally made one full turn, so I could go to work.

Now, they close schools? I had 1 snow day in 12 years during periods of below zero that stretched for 3 weeks, and snow that would make todays wimpy stuff look like a flurry.

I now stand down from pool-side.

I can remember one winter in Butte, MT; they called school off when it was -60 (no wind chill back then) and they had us go to school the next day (-55) because we were outside playing in the that freezing temps. The good old days in the 50's.
