And, I deposit my butts in their proper place. Forgot to say that. I don't like to see them all over the place either. And I don't like the smell of the smoke. I do like the flavor.

Started smoking when I was 15 yrs old........soft pack of Paul Malls
Later swapped to Marlboro Red hard packs

NAVY smoked what was available at 'ships store', on shore or from 'ration paks' (very old 4 cig packs of Camels, Winstons)

Marlboro Red was preferred brand until went FT....then it was cigs from 'Reservation' Cigs----Native Brand----would buy cartoons when near Reservations or have case shipped when we weren't.

After coming off the road and bought S&B....found Reservation Store nearby so costs was never 'THE' issue.

Only smoked when I was outdoors....kids until they had grown up and GF has asthma.

Sept 12, 2014 sitting out on front porch and had my last cig. Said that was IT.

No real reason other then I just quit.

DID enjoy one with morning coffee......after a meal ....just sitting relaxing contemplating life

Smoked for 45 years and just quit cold turkey in March of this year. I was the only person in my family that smoked and the only one of my camping buddies. I used to enjoy it but then one day I just decided I didn’t...and quit. Haven’t looked back once. It helps if there are no other smokers around to tempt me.

I was a long time smoker and quit in March, 2014.....and I started vaping. I haven't had a cigar since, and I was not only inhaling the cigars, I was smoking approx. 5 a day....the kind that come in a 5 pack....not really big ones, but certainly larger than cigarettes. When I started vaping, I was buying the juice that had a really high nicotine level, to replace the amount of nicotine that I was getting in the cigars. Over that past almost 4 years, I've dropped the nicotine level down to a very small amount in the juice. I actually tried the zero nicotine level juice, and it really didn't taste the same as the juice with just a little bit of nic.

Same here, started smoking when I was 12, smoked for 43 years. For the last of those years smoked Captain Black little cigars. When the price went to seven bucks a pack tried vaping. I didn't give up smoking because I wanted to but because I got tired of giving Uncle Sugar all that money.

Have been vaping for eight years now, I too started with a very high level of nicotine (45) and gradually decreased to 16. My doctor is pleased with the vaping and my last lung function test was great. No plans to give vaping up.

Smoked for 30 some years. Fooled myself by saying I really enjoyed it...after meals, with drinks...you know, after or with all the stuff we do daily (or maybe once a month or something) !
Funny, some dates are difficult to remember, but ask an ex-smoker when they quit and it's a date most will recall with vivid detail.
Last cigarette for me - July 29, 2004.... at 6:30 pm !

I used to smoke........but I rarely burst into flames.........

As an old recruiter - - I would spend a lot of time on the phone, drinking coffee, and in cars driving.........

As all smokers know - the smoke bone is connected to the phone bone, which is connected to the coffee bone, and also connected to then driving bone......which is connected to the coffee bone...........yada-yada-yada.......

I was a 3 pack a dayer - loved buying cheap cigs at the commissary........First thing I did in my early days on active duty was on pay day - - went and bought my months worth of smokes (sad)! LOL We only got paid once per month back in them days. And had the non-filtered Camels and Luckys many times from the old "K" Rations.........if you didn't have a sore throat when you lit one up - - you did afterwards.......but we puffed away on them!!! Hahahaha These cigs were probably from 40s or 50s when fresh. It was 1971 when I was smoking them....

I am done smoking now - - took me 7 times using patches to finally put them down. I have the utmost respect for those with the will-power to go it cold turkey. My wife went cold turkey with me still smoking in the house. She is definitely stronger then me.

My story and I'm sticking with it!!

Yes I smoke. I enjoy a pipe of tobacco after a meal. And a great way to relax after any day. All things in moderation.

I congratulate all of you who have kicked the habit!

I never smoked but a lot of my family does. My daughter tried several times before she was able to give it up so I know it has to be really, really tough to stop!

I too wish that smokers would stop throwing their butts on the ground! I think most that do would never throw paper on the ground, so what's the difference?

An old friend that I enjoyed at certain times of the day. I quit a long time ago, 2003 or so. Dr. prescribed Zyban and after taking it for a couple months I asked him when I should quit and he said don't worry about it. Then one day I realized I hadn't smoked for a couple days. Strange.

If I was told I have a month to live I think I'd go out and get a carton of Pall Malls. Don't crave them, but still miss them.

Like the Sct. Maj. I smoked the C-rats Cigarettes in VN. Five to a pack in a green package. So dry that when you lit one the flame often times didn't go out. Like he said, sore throat guaranteed.
