Hurricane

Ok the hurricane is coming, I've been through them before. The last time sitting on a barstool in Wildwood NJ in my twenties (long time ago) with water running in the door, don't ask, wasn't one of my brighter ideas( Peggy was on the next stool) anyway we're in Wells ME on the coast at the upper range of the storm. Topped off the tank today. My thoughts are if the blow gets bad pull in the slides. I'm also thinking of unplugging from the pedestal and going with the genny if there is any lightning in the area. We've been here before in a bad thunderstorm here last year and power was out all night. The news is calling for power outages all along the coast. Have stocked plenty of food and beer LOL
any other thoughts or folks in the line of the storm? Up here it sounds like an adventure. Further south I'd be heading west.

I was down in Ocean springs Miss. after the big one went throught there; people disappeared, this storm is going right through where you are at; I would be on my way. adventure? I've been through hurricanes, I live in Florida; If I was given your choise, I'd be on my way.

They are calling for plenty of rain winds 30-60. I've been through worse 30 stories up in a building under construction. I can't go home and one of the tracks shows it hitting the Adirondacks. I thing I'll sit tight, very tight. I was in Waveland Miss. after the storm helping with the rebuild and wouldn't take the chance anything like that.

Back in 03' was evacuated out of Myrtle Beach to a WalMart 50 miles inland. It was a Cat 1 hurricane. Was able to return to the campground 24 hours after it went thru, but had to take a different site because of downed trees and branches. Yes, stay filled up with gas in-case the word comes to clear out.....

Eastern ME will have winds 39 to 73 MPH. And the eye is predicted to pass right over where you are.

In 2005 my MH sat through Wilma and lost a window awning 2 big Max covers and a vent cover under one of them. I stayed at a friends house.
when I got back to the MH the 3 bathroom cabinet glass doors that are held shut with magnets all were wide open. So it must have been shaken a lot. All 4 jacks had been down also.

If I was on the East coast of ME now where Irene will be by 1-2AM Mon.
I would think about leaving Sat. morning for a trip to Niagara Falls(536 miles).

Then check with someone in the ME area Mon. night if phones are still working there, about how things are for electric etc.

I hear you. I'm up in CT visiting my parents prior to reporting for duty in Norfolk, VA. Norfolk is about to take a near direct hit.

My father managed to miss his chair the other day and broke a mirrored closet door with his head. He's ok, but since then we've already had an earth quake and a hurricane in bound. So if anyone is wondering who to blame it is all his fault.

I'm looking at heading west to pick up I-81 and wait out the storm in western VA, Or south western PA. Anythoughts?

Nobody likes a [moderator edit] LOL, west would make sense. Going to watch the track tomorrow. Syracuse is looking like a plan. After it blows by, take 81 to the NE extension PA Turnpike Philly here I come. Hope the house is OK I've got a 70' oak 35' behind the house My youngest is still living in the house, I'll be in close contact. Everybody I love is there so Peg and I are saying our prayers. Hondo we are about 90 NW of Portland ME and we plan on staying put but we too have topped off the diesel tank and will top off the water tomorrow... watching the path closely and will leave if I feel it looks too dangerous to stay... heading to Camden Hills ME on Tuesday if all looks okay...

Wells is 35 miles south of Portland, right on the coast. you guys are making me nervous. I will look closely tomorrow.
