I can't believe I just said that

Do you ever hear your parents or teachers words come out of your mouth? Those same words that you once found so annoying?

I remember 2 phrases that have recently haunted me --

"A job worth doing is worth doing right." And,"You'll be old some day."

Has this happened to you?

About 10 years ago I went to sleep as myself, woke up in the morning and I become my dad.

That sounds like a movie plot, but I know what you mean.

Personally the one I find myself saying is that if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I remember coming into the house and hearing one of my old Steppenwolf albums being played by my seven year on a Fisher Price record player (one step up from a "close and play") really loud. The first words out of my mouth were "Would you turn that racket down".
DW saw the startled look on my face and said the magic words"Welcome to your middle age".

My dad's favorite, "The most uncommon thing you will ever find is COMMON SENSE".

I've actually heard my daughter use my phrase with her kid: "Whoever told you that life was fair?"

I like one a friend's DH used to say: "there's no bones stickin' out, he'll be fine". <===. Best for whiners & "drama llamas"

One thing that attracted me to my then wife to be, was when she commented: "Is anybody in the emergency room? No? Then it's not a big deal".

"If someone told you to jump off a bridge"....

During my mid-teen years, he found his answer...yes, and twice at that.

After the last event and coming home from the doctor's office, he told me with 'that smile'..."I hope you have three boys just like you".

Dad was clairvoyant.

I believe you are paying for your raising in triplicate.

My Mom would tell my brother and I that if we played in the road and go hit by a car we would get a whooping.

Kept us out of the road.

What Isaac-1 said. Just how I grew up, but now that I am retired the garage full of every tool imagineable has started losing it's luster. Did sell my airless sprayer, so guess what I am renting this week? I just won't pay $900 to have our patio painted because the painter was just going to spray over dirt and cobwebs.
