I have to rant!!!!

1.I hate people who text and drive. I had a young girl smash into the rear of my wifes Jeep that I was driving, on Thursday the 15th of October. She admitted it to me and the cop that came to the seen of the accident. Not much visible damage to the jeep.
2. This one is the one I really hate most of all DRUNK DRIVERS!!!!! We were headed to Eisenhower state park on last Thursday night. We had travelled into Sherman tx and this Drunk man decided to enter the highway, like most everyone here I will move over and let them merge. Unfortunately I had a truck passing me on the left and I couldn't get over. I'm on the brakes but its too late the guy hits the side of the rv all the way down to the back which sent me fish tailing into the left lane. I was able to get it under control and to the side of the road. He shot across the highway and into the median and almost hit the truck that had passed me. Then he starts driving the wrong way back down the highway and tries to climb the grass embankment. I run over to his vehicle tell him to turn it off but wouldn't listen so I run to the passenger side door open it and ripped the keys out of the ignition. My son and his fiancé were behind us and witnessed the whole thing. When the cops showed up they arrested him. Took our information and sent us on our way. It was dark but I could see that the rv was driveable so we went on to the camp ground . There is damage to the awning on both ends so we couldn't use it this weekend. Most of the damage is cosmetic I hope.

Glad your OK. A stoned, texting driver hit my daughter 4 years ago and it didn't turn out as well as your situation and the @/^#*( got a slap on the wrist.

Exactly! Cosmetic (or more) damage can be repaired.

This guy couldn't speak English. I'm sure he is already headed back to his home land and I'm going to fit the bill on my repairs. The cops wouldn't tell me if he had insurance. Its not the first time Ive had this problem, that's why I have uninsured motorist.

Sorry that happened to your daughter. I wish the laws/punishments would be more extreme for these type of offences. Texting should be the same as dui.

Would a dash cam have helped at all?
I have one and thank the heavens I haven't had anything happen that I needed it but it has sure recorded some pretty stupid stuff people are doing when they get behind the wheel.

I don't know if this is true across the continent but where I live, distracted driving (code for texting and cell phone use) has surpassed drunk driving for accidents causing death.

I was sitting in the DMV renewing my drivers license waiting for my number to be called. I heard them announce number two, after a couple minutes they announced two again. Then a woman came from around the counter and went up to an obviously Hispanic male and said, "Senor Rodriguez...dos." The guy couldn't understand English, and probably can't read or write it either, but he's given a drivers license. There's something obviously very wrong going on here. By the way this was in Maryland, not in the Southwest somewhere.

Welcome to the new world of left wing political correctness and utter stupidity.

If it feels good just do it. And nobody is held accountable or responsible for ANYTHING. Unless you are in the middle class work (ed) and pay your taxes and bills. Then YOU WILL be held responsible for everybody else. "Just the fact mam, just the facts."

It's happening every day all over the country and for the most part the public is to busy, stupid, uninformed, or just simply don't care. When individuals in a society are held less responsible and accountable for their actions that society is on the road to socialism.

Yes, we see wrecks of single cars just running off the road, or two cars going in the same direction. In my mind, clearly caused by "distracted driving". However, some of this isn't from cell phone use or texting, rather from using the touch screens on some new cars. One of the car magazines had an article listing the number of touch inputs needed to change radio stations or temperature settings on different cars. As much as 4, 5, and 6 touches required; all of which required taking your eyes off of the road.
