So the DW has a birthday coming up next week, I think it's her 29th
and I might have come up with an excellent gift this year.
We're fans of all types of music, but like our Rock&Roll. Last night I was watching the Celebration Day Video again (2007 reunion of Led Zeppelin) and after watching it decided to YouTube the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors to watch Heart perform Stairway To Heaven. Led Zeppelin was honored this year and the musical performances of their music was GREAT - but the rendition of Stairway by Heart was just incredible

As it happens when I get distracted or bored, I started googling some things and found out that Heart will be performing at Mohegan Sun on July 4th AND tickets were going on sale this morning at 10am.
Nice timing! We've been to the arena at Mohegan Sun before for other concerts and its usually a pretty good place to see a show.
So at 9:52 this morning I started hitting ticketmaster so that I could get in early, and at about 9:58 ticket sales opened up. I didn't realize these were "pre-release" tickets and had to waste 5 extra minutes signing up at a website that sells you the pre-release special code - ok another $5 - whatever.
Got back to ticketmaster and was able to secure 2 floor tickets in section 5 at a really good price of $55/ticket. That's a bargain for a concert these days, considering the special Meet & Greet package with pre-show backstage access is $300 per person.
What's cool about the show .. well a few things
1. It's HEART, with special guest Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience. For those of you that may not be in the know - John Bonham was the drummer for Led Zeppelin (before he died) and Jason is his son. Jason did the one off concert Celebration Day with Led Zeppelin and it was an awesome show. And this Heart tour is in celebration of their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio - this has all the makings of a great concert.
2. The Heart show will cap off with Ann & Nancy Wilson joining Jason Bonham and his band playing some great Led Zeppelin classics at the end of their show.
3. Should be #1 - Led Zeppelin *is* the greatest rock band in the world - at least in our minds and we've heard great things about the show Jason puts on with his band.
4. Should probably be #1 too - the date of the concert, July 4th will be 24 years to the day, and maybe the hour, that the DW and I went on our first date! We were supposed to go out and see the movie Batman, but just before we left her house, she got a call that her cousin had just given birth - so off to the hospital we went instead.
Now I just have to hold onto the tickets and secret for another 8 days!
