Did that for several years. Dog and I would leave and wife would fly there and back to conserve her vacation time. I really think she missed the dog more than me.

Rkh,

I'm not retired yet and my DH and I have a lot of discussions on when we will leave. I DON'T want to be in MI in the winter after I retire in 18 months. I am sick of the cold! If I have to, I will drive the MH down and he can fly down when he is ready but I am hoping that won't be a problem.

I would fly back for Christmas but not staying until after. I see a lot of MH's taking off including yesterday I saw two of them towing cars. I will not drive the MH on icy or snow covered roads if I can help it.

Since you have waited on her I would just suggest that next year you both leave early. If she declines then let her know that you will see her when she flies down after the holidays and let her know when you are leaving a month ahead to give her time to think about it. Offer to fly back for Christmas, but go when you want. Life is too short.

Good Luck and Happy New Year, Lynne

The significant other and I come down around the first of Nov. She flies to Mi after Thanksgiving to be with kids and grand kids during Christmas. I stay here! She then flies back down here for New Years and we stay put until the 1st of May. Works great, everyone is happy. We've been doing this for several years now.

I like your style best. We are both rather tired of all the holiday stuff and would just like to be away from it all. Kids can always come and visit you when they miss you.
