Idea for F53- Put in 6.7/470HP/970Toruqe Diesel?

Just a thought, but if Ford is going to the trouble of repowering the F53 MH chassis, why not pop in the 6.7 diesel?

Or make it an option?

They are quiet, so wouldn't be any noisier than the pickups.

Just thinking out loud. It'll probably never happen, but we can wish.

I've been to a number of RV shows in the past 15 months or so and have looked at doezens of web sites. Many class A and class C will have a V-10 (or smaller gas engine in some of the Class C that's on a E-450 chassis). I'm curious why they wouldn't just put the 6.7L diesel in them?

They'd have more towability and be able to get up and over the mountains without having a string of cars strung out a mile behind. Is it just a cost saving factor? I don't think I've ever saw any of the smaller class A or any of the class C with a diesel option.

Price point - it would move the F53 chassis out of the financial reach of too many people . It's a LOT more then just installing that engine. It's the entire driveline, exhaust, a DEF tank, etc, etc, etc. In a pickup, that 6.7 adds over $10K to the base price. In that F53 chassis, probably more. You get to that figure, you are starting to get closer to a low-mid end diesel pusher MH .
