identify this fabric?

My son and I are doing some upholstery and want to find this fabric (pictures). It is very soft. Seems to have a bit of a texture, and is finished both sides. In the center is about 1/8" foam and the top and bottom appear to be 1/16" vinyl? But it doesn't feel like vinyl. It almost feels like suede.......anyone have any ideas and if you have seen it, where? Please keep in mind that this is a closeup of a scrap of this material.

That is what he thought (son) but why would it be two sided? And I went to my friendly upholstery shop; they do a lot of car interiors and he couldn't identify it.

Where did the sample fabric come from? If you can tell us where you found it we might be able to offer more possibilities re fabric name and type.

In your photos it looks like micro-suede headliner material to me. Might also be from a car seat cover.

Thanks for the help. It is not suede or ultra suede. the outsides are a vinyl with a foam center. It came from a rifle stock; the part where one rests their cheek........

Ah .... okay, then it might be a neoprene type fabric called "hawktex" or "hawk-tex." Don't know if you can buy it directly, though.

Good luck with your search. :-)
