Nicely done, thanks for sharing. We often fish at a small lake in B.C., and the osprey' fish there quite often. It's a real treat to watch them. Some of the fish they pull out of the water and take back to there nest is a pretty incredible feat. We were quietly trolling along one lazy afternoon and very relaxed when an osprey grabbed a fish out of the water about 10 feet from our boat. Scared the bijeesus out of us. Allways enjoy the Osprey and the Loons.

I love the Pacific Northwest. I've been whale watching up there and spent a good deal of time in the NW with my husband in the late 90s and early 00s and on my solo trip in 2010.

Thank you for posting that. I'd heard of the Osprey, but never saw one in action.

Impressive bird! I can see why the helio was named after them. To be able to fly with a load of fish and shake off the water is amazing. Impressive camera work as well.

The shot of it taking the flounder underwater was unbelievable, truly stunning.

I've seen the taking of the flounder before...how do you suppose they managed to film THAT? Very cool! Bob

I wondered the same thing. I even wondered whether it was a different Osprey in the air than came out of the water. It would be hard to judge which fish the bird was going to choose. However it was done, it was fascinating to watch, for me, and I wanted to share it.

Who knows? I think it was NATGO's 'Wild Russia' series that the photographers spent 2 years freezing in a blind trying to film a rare Snow Leopard's hunt...that was an amazing piece of film as well. Bob
