Back home from South Haven. Trip was very enjoyable. Warm and sunny 6 of 8 days. One rainy/windy day early on, and then yesterday it got a bit chilly. Reminded me of fall, my absolute favorite time to camp.
We did a lot of beach time in South Haven, walked through lots of mom and pop shops, had a couple of good meals out (Clementines and Cousin's were the two favorites), swam in the campground pool a bunch, did dune Jeep rides, and overall just had a very nice time.
If you haven't done the South Haven or Holland MI area it is well worth the 3-4 hr drive from central IN.

Hi all, just wanted to let everyone know how the Hoosier National Forest was. We had a great time! It was very piece full and relaxing! Had a doe and her fawn in our camping spot when we pulled up, so many deer that we got tired of taking pictures of them! :-) They closed down the beach due to flooding but, it wasn't bad at all and we could park at the boat ramp and walk over to the beach! We had the whole place to ourselves, and that was AWESOME! !
Some of the campsites were very uneven ,would be hard to get your rig level! Most were electric only but, did have a few with water hookup, just not many.
We also toured the other loops and Jackpine loop seem to be the best for a large motorhome. A lot of the campsites are premitive, as in no hookups at all.
Super nice people and we can't wait to go back someday!

Spent the weekend at the Terre Haute KOA using it as a base for some genealogy. Spent a lot of time in Sullivan and Clay Counties. DW found the grave site for her G,G,G, Grandfather.
Good weekend except driving I-70 from Indy to the Ohio line, good golly miss Molly I think I jarred a few fillings loose.

Well, we are set for our next adventure. Leaving Friday after work for 3 nights at Wolf Creek SP on Lake Shelbyville, IL. Yes, you read that right. Illinois. . .another sticker on the map!!
Looking forward to the beach that is in the park, and will rent a pontoon boat for half or full day to get in some additional water time.
Will report back on our experience next week.
Pete

Had a very nice but HOT weekend at Wolf Creek SP. Saw deer, turkeys, tons of rabbits. Campground was 20% full Fri and Sat, 10% Sun.
The park was nice enough but showed evidence of deferred maintenance and budget cuts. Specifically no check in attendants at the gate, only one camp host for 300-ish sites, some sites in disrepair with unusable fire rings, etc.
The highlights for us were the wildlife, a very nice Beach (actually several nice ones), and our half day pontoon rental on Sun morning. Also enjoyed a few hours in Amish neighborhoods about 30 min north of the lake.
The lake was very nice, but I'm not 100% sure we'll be back to the campground. We did scout out others in the area that might work better for us if we go back. Those include Lithia marina campground and Eagle Creek campground (another SP campground right across the lake from Wolf Creek but appeared to be better maintained).
Here's a pic of us adding our IL sticker to the map! Also some of wildlife we saw and one of our site.

Coast Guard festival is July 29-Aug 7 in Grand Haven, MI. It is really a cool event to see. Lots of ships, planes helicopters, festival atmosphere, plus the beautiful lake and really cool town.
The Elkhart, IN county Fair is through July 30 too. If you haven't been you have to once. Largest county Fair in the nation, rivals many state fairs in size.
Have fun!!

We are suppose to be heading to Dandridge, TN this AM (Anchor Down RV Resort) but had an overheating engine yesterday on my return trip to the house from fueling........will have it looked at today and hope to be on the road tomorrow.
Tom & Patty - any good suggestions on where to eat or what to see down there besides the obvious?
