Welcome to Indiana Members........as a new RVer - if you have any questions about camping, camp grounds, or basic RV questions.....fire away. There is a lot of knowledge here........

Anyone going to GLAMARAMA in June?

GLAMARAMA is a regional FMCA rally. FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) is now open to all RVs - not limited to motor homes. I don't belong to too many "clubs" anymore but FMCA is one I am. They have many features that may be a benefit for you. There is also a very active local chapter named Hoosier Cruisers. Check FMCA out at: http://join.fmca.com/save10now/.

If you have any FMCA questions - ask me........I'll do the best I can to get you an answer.

Take care,

g

You'll enjoy GLAMARAMA, Glenn. One year, when FMA's nat'l rally location in IL fell through last minute, the GLAMARAMA bunch welcomed 300 Fleetwood coaches to share their rally space in Goshen. Have fun!

Indy Glen, off the subject but can you tell me if the campground across from Purgatory Golf Club is under new owners? Is it "ok" now to camp there? You responded to me a year or so ago and said don't camp there...I'm looking for camp space close to Carmel. thank you!

Swagn - you didn't ask me, but I live about 15 minutes from there. It is currently marked as "Closed - Do Not Enter" at the front gate. You can see a camper or two still in there from the highway along with some other vehicles/equipment, but it definitely doesn't look like it is operational at this time.

The only campgrounds near this area are White River Campground in Strawtown (a very nice small campground that generally fills up every weekend) and Sleepy Bear Campground, which is next to (and I mean right next to) Ruoff Music Center (formerly Deer Creek, then Verizon, then Klipsch). I've never camped at Sleepy Bear so I can't tell you anything about it other than to make 100% sure there isn't a concert scheduled if you plan to stay there. That part of town is crazy on concert days/weekends.

With all of the out of town people that come to the north suburbs of Indy for sporting events, concerts, etc, I would just LOVE to open a new campground. Crazy expensive endeavor - land around here is just insanely expensive, not to mention cost of insurance, septic, power, etc - but I think it could be successful. . .maybe IndyGlenn could be the money man for a new campground???

Ed & Sarah - I still haven't camped there and rarely go to that part of Indy - sorry.

But Purdue Pete took good care of you. Hope you can use some of the good info he gave out.

Pete.....as far as the money man goes, Hahahahahaha - I am a retired soldier and Federal worker......live in Brownsburg, it's supposed to be a Carmel wanna be.....nah - but the local politicians are trying their best to make it that way.....Now if you live 15 minutes from Purgatory - - that's the fashionable Northside........LOL

Have a great day everyone.....I think Spring may almost be here!

I'm SO jealous. It is a beautiful weekend to be out & our coach is in the shop for repairs.

Enjoy!

As a bonus, we got to watch this B-17 doing take-offs and landings from the adjacent airfield plus cool fly-overs!

That had to be neat......

They were at the Anderson, IN airport and giving rides to those who reserved a spot and paid.

Beside GLAMARA in our future, we are heading to Brookville Lake over Memorial Day and Prophets Town for the 4th of July - anyone else?

What are your plans?????

We've done two weekends to our local place so far.

Under 3 weeks until our Badlands/Custer/Mt Rushmore/Yellowstone/Tetons/rodeo mega-trip out west. Actually started packing middle of last week. I think we're all 4 ready to leave tomorrow if we could.

Nothing else planned for the summer but we'll squeeze in a couple more weekends with hopefully a long weekend in there too.

You will love Badlands/Custer/Mt Rushmore/Yellowstone/Tetons....

Everything is larger than life........

Never did the rodeo thing tho and I used to go to Montana all the time in a previous life.......was around a lot of cowboys and cowgirls - just never at the rodeo.........I had to go to Florida for that!! LOL

A couple of thoughts:

If you happen to drive at night, especially on back roads....be careful - - the bunnies out there are as big as deer here. (And look out for those Jackalopes!)

Lots of speed traps, watch your speed. Kansas is the worst but you probably won't be on I-70.

Make sure you stop at Wall Drug (SD).......never been there with an RV but I have read there is plenty of RV parking - check it out.

Do your best to get away from lights at night and marvel at all the stars.....amazing.

Devils Tower is a doable drive from you base camp in the Mt. Rushmore area.

Also - - checkout Deadwood, SD https://www.deadwood.com. It's interesting and lets you get the feel of on old western town. Perhaps you can stop there for dinner on your way back from Devils Tower.....

Now you're making me want to plan a trip to this area - it is really special.

Ba safe and careful.....there'll be lots of people.
