It is about time! I think drivers like this slow poke cause accidents.

When I run up on these rolling traffic jams, I usually just move to the right lane, back off a little, and wait it out. While waiting I often see several cars pile in on the slowpoke in the left lane with less than a second's following distance between them. Then some self-important jerk will pass on the right side and start trying to push in so he can get to his destination a few seconds more quickly. Nobody's getting anywhere any more quickly than I am, but they're sure contentious doing it.

I'm proud of the officer and wish there were more like him.

I think most states with laws similar to this define "slow" as going more than 10MPH under the speed limit. I know some states are redefining "slow" as holding up traffic in the left lane. Not sure which states use which definition. I prefer the holding up traffic definition.

I just get in the right lane and go 60MPH and don't worry about it. Only problem with that is I have to deal with the dummies who don't know how to merge from the on ramp.

If they did this in Florida we could pay off the national debt from the fines

I agree, the word "hero" is way overused these days. Audie Murphy was a hero, I'm not so sure about a cop writing a traffic ticket.

Hero has multiple definitions:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hero

I don't think that means they are on the same level. For example, someone might be a hero to someone (definition #4, such as a childhood idol or this cop) but it doesn't mean that person is a hero (definition 1).

Yeah. I took it to be tongue-in-cheek. If I were to meet him in person I may grin and say he's a "hero" for ticketing one of the most aggravating drivers on the road. But I'd hope he knows I'm being somewhat facetious.

We were taught in Drivers Ed in the mid 1960s that slower traffic should stay to the right. I do unless it is 3 lanes or more then will be in lane 2 from the right if I am driving thru with no anticipated exiting soon. This helps me maintain speed and not constantly slowing down for vehicles getting on.
We were also taught to merge at the speed of the traffic flow in the right lane.
Glad the cop did this as many may not be aware of what happens when slower traffic bottles the road up.

There are not enough words in any language to describe how much I loath those loitering in the left. A few just need to pass and get back over but there are many that should never leave the right hand lane ever.

The only time I will run the left lane is when the right lane is all beat up from heavy truck traffic. Even then I will get over as vehicles approach. On some occasions running the left lane is better than risking suspension problems and bouncing the vehicle around. It's something I rarely do but have.
