Just got a letter from progressive about a qoute for my stick house. They refused to issue a policy because " Oldest bankcard account was opened between 97 and and 215 months ago. Optimum value is 216 months or more." That's 18 YEARS so they just lost all of my business I dropped ALL my policies with them. The rep I talked to when I called to cancel said it had to be a mistake. I told him if it was they sure screwed up I would not be bothered with a company that use's that as a reason to not issue a policy. They had no problem taking my money for my other policies but didn't want to have my business for my home. Wanted to know if there is anybody out there that has gone 18 years without getting a NEW credit card.

Hi,

I have credit cards that are older than that and never had a problem. Once in awhile I even get a new one with no problems.

There is a problem wih Progressive Insurance and I cancelled them last year. I was away and my bill came due so I called them for the new price. They had increased my premium something fierce and I didn't have any claims or tickets to make them go up. Their answer was that they had to many claims from uninsured motiorists that they had to raise rates. No that is not my fault so when I got hom I cancelled my policies and went with Allied Insurance, a Nationwide company and they are fine and have my homeowners and vehicles including RV.

Now you know why Progressive has a lot of ads on TV.

That is ridiculous!! We insure our home and car with NC Farm Bureau and our RV with Allied. Have been very happy with both.

GMAC is no better.. had a claim when I turned sharp to avoid some clown who walked out in front of me. GMAC assigned 5 points and upped the monthly premium $190.00. What a rip off.

Insurance companies are looking for every excuse in the book to cancel your insurance or not issue a policy. Ask me how I know....
They are scared [moderator edit] that you may have to submit a claim.

Funny thing is I wanted a $5000.00 deductable and they only went to $2500.00. My new company I can go all the way to $10,000.00.

Progressive has lost my business, too. Between a rate hike and the infamous Peter Lewis, I'm gone.

We've been with Allstate since 1972. Have home, auto and RV with them. Initially, on our current RV we included roadside assistance, but decided not to renew at the end of the first year. We've always had excellent service and have changed our representing agency each time we've moved house, keeping the agent within 10 miles.

We have a good driving record (last at fault claim was in 1974). We'll have a windshield replacement coming up on our Kia shortly.

There's a feature of their RV insurance that, when you take it off the road for the winter, they'll suspend the coverage for on-road use until you tell them it's going to be used again. Saved us about $180 the first year when we had it parked upside the garage for 5 months. It has to be physically off the road, not just parked. Don't know if other insurers have a similar feature.

BTW. we've had our present bank cards with Boeing Employees' CU since 1974!

My new company does offer storage only with Comp. It's only costing me 10 bucks a month instead of 45 bucks for full coverage. I was 7 when you got that CC.

just one more reason to go with Farm Bureau
no expensive ads to pay for and we pay 1/3 rd of what my 20 years with allstate cost

plus discounts with grainger, dell and a whole list of other companies

you dont have to own a farm either

My parents, siblings and I had been with Allstate our whole adult lives covering homes, automobiles and buying all things 'Sears'. Then they decided to NOT insure homes in Florida, they pulled the rug out from under a lot of loyal customers. So much for the 'good hands'. We all canceled all policies with Allstate...loyality, or more the lack of, runs both ways. Bob

Has anyone researched why that insurance company call Progressive, is named that?

If Not I can tell you if the mods will not delete it.

We would prefer the thread stay on the subject of insurance.

Thanks!
