IRS Phone Calls

I know I posted this before but the scammers have been out in force recently. Please be aware that the IRS does NOT call you and they do NOT send you e-mails. If you get one of these scam calls just hang up on them. Do NOT give them any information under any circumstances. I know the calls sound very official and scary but they are not real. I have had five clients call me in just the last week about these annoying and dangerous calls. Hang up and save yourself a lot of aggravation.

I agree with you 100 %. I have caller ID and a answering machine, if I do not know the phone number the call goes to the answering machine. I will listen if I am home and answer if you are someone I know but using a different phone for some reason.

I had a very official looking ID on the phone last month will I let call go to the answering machine. The caller said I needed to contact them immediately since I was being sued by the IRS for taxes. Will I never did.

Good advise Ed. It is also bad here in FL with all of the Seniors that don't understand. Too bad the scammers can't get life instead of a slap on the wrist when and if they are caught.

Chuck, it's too bad we can't subject them to being perpetually audited. That just might we worse than life!

Another related scan is a non-english as first language speaker calls and says he is from a goverment office that passes out grants for paying your taxes on time bla-bla-bla.

First time I played along and wound up talking to his supervisor (partner)who told me about the security deposit I needed to pay.

(FEDERAL LAW: IF they are giving you money..They are giving you money, They are not allowed to ask you to pay front money).

And I told her off

Did not stop him from calling againg...I was not polite that time either.

(Actually I did not cuss, swear or use bad language..I just told him he was a lying scammer and not to ring my phone ever again).

If you waste as much of their time as possible, it will delay them calling the next person. Keep them on the line as long as possible, then tell them you have been recording the call. That should get you off the list. I have asked them to "hold" while I change phones, then every 10 min tell them you will be right with them. i kept one going for an hour while i was on the computer doing important stuff (Amazon).

DW got a call from the "IRS" a few months ago. Told them that they'd have to talk to me as I handled all the financial stuff. They never called back.
About a month ago she got another call from them, she just let it go to the answering machine, same thing, threatened to take us to court..
Called the Sheriff's office to report it but they don't even bother to take a report.

I keep an aerosol boat horn near the phone. When I get one of those scammers, i speak very softly to make sure they're really listening, then I blast the horn at the phone, then hang up. They don't call again!

If I washed my truck every time I got one of those calls I would have rubbed all the paint off by now.

A local senior citizen here got a call telling him they found a problem with his computer and requesting access to it. They locked up his computer and said they would release it for (IIRC) $800. He refused and tried to get it released by a couple different repair facilities, the last I heard no one could help him.
