That is another whole can of worms - collecting tax on the same vehicle EVERY TIME it sells !!!
So, you paid $46,978 plus 12% you will pay on import compared to
$65 plus 12% if you bought in Canada. I'd say you did well
ETA: Yikes - way off topic!

Meh. It's only numbers on a piece of paper...that's what debt is until you actually have to pay.

Interest payment on the national debt was 220 billion dollars last year.

Never said they did.
I used to work in Portland and live in Vancouver. Had to pay OR income tax on my wages AND pay the sales/use tax in WA. Talk about double taxation and no representation in OR either.

Maybe we could sell California and use the proceeds to pay down the rest of the US debt.

Hey Possum...just read an article that said the new Canadian 100 dollar bill will melt due to polymers used in their manufacturing.
You have any problems so far?

Arch, you should have seen the nonsense stories floating around about the centre of our twoonies falling out. (Twoonie is the Canadian two dollar coin) There were newspaper reports and all but everyone of them a hoax. I did have a tiny problem once with two of the polymer $20.s sticking together and trying to imitate a single bill. I solved that problem by just using my ATM card for most of my purchases, its thicker and seldom sticks to anything.
The truth be known most people would like to see the polymer bills replace the loonie and the twoonies. It makes sense to not have to print bills as often.

Can't be as bad as the city of Detroit. The city its broke. Just waiting for the state to step in and impose a emergency city manager. The mayor is on trial now for his shady deals which allowed him to deposit over 800k into his accounts over the amount of his salary. Only 46% of the population are paying their property tax. Not to mention those that do pay asst paying the highest tax in the country. So a house that sold for 120k just 5 years ago is typically paying close to 4k in takes and their house is valued at 35k.
People have left the city at alarming rates so people can't sell their homes even if they are willing to take a loss. Thiefs have stolen copper out of street lights so the city is dark and violent. Its a mess.
Anyone interested in some real cheap inner city lots?

Don't worry about California. The feds will bail them out with money from the other states that kept their house in order.

Threats Might Work

Speaking of Canadian resources...how come y'all let us use all that Columbia River water for nothing? You do own the headwaters, you know...and boyhowdy, do we ever use the heck out of it when it crosses the border! Power....irrigation...recreation...municipal supplies...and all from Free Canadian Water!
Seems to me like poor management that you've never charged us for it. I mean, there really should be a limit to that famous Canadian Good Neighborliness.
I s'pose there won't be a water bill in the mail anytime soon, but you might at least consider threatening to turn off that tap if you don't get your power money.
Hope this helps!

Western society cant continue with this farce called free trade. We give all our jobs to third world countries and then wonder why there is no money to support our system. The middle class has disappeared and they were the ones paying all the bills. Canada is the same as the USA in this regard. Who will buy all the goods if no one has a job. Big business has sold us out to the highest bidder. jmho.
