melvonnar,

I'd rather be you than her.... Two hip replacements and three broken hips (not to mention the other problems she's had)? I don't think she's doing this for fun.

I sat in Oak Knoll Naval Hospital all burned crispy, blind, no usable hands, large softball sized hole in my neck and a near matching twin on my left forehead, and I was feeling really down and blue.
They roomed me with other NamVets coming back without limbs at all and in near fatal condition and for over 2 weeks I watched every last one of my "roomies" expire overnight. Some with just one large final outbreath, some quietly, many reciting the Lord's Prayer and some questioning "why me"...

Every morning at 0545, Nurse Cratchet, aka Lt Murphy RN, forced me outta my bed, made me change sheets and pillow cases and "tidy up". That may sound like no big task, but try it sometime without looking and with tennis rackets strapped to your hands, and skin that bleeds at the mere mention of movement. I soon came to realize we are all here for undisclosed reasons, for indeterminate time periods, and we are what we make of us... nothing more, nothing less.

Now everyday I Thank the Lord for keeping me here, even for the suffering and pain I endure, as one of our own here on IRV2 states "I do all my own stunts" and I have to suffer the natural consequences of each one. We live in the greatest country on earth, have freedoms noone else on earth can even imagine, enjoy wealth and health other countries envy, and after all that I find it hard to whine much anymore.

My son is retiring from USAF after 24 years and 12 trips to the desert, my daughter and husband are doing well and soon may open a second french resturant, I have 2 wonderful grandchildren, and even my 85 yr old Father is still here and able to join me on frequent flyfishing jaunts... all that and to think back in 68 I was wishing maybe I wouldn't awaken the next morning just so the pain would stop.

Be safe, enjoy the open road, Thank a Veteral for our great freedoms.
Sailor, you make me feel like a ''whining, sniveling useless piece of dog poo'' for complaing about mostly things that mean nothing. I am typing this with tears in my eyes for your bravery because I know I would not have the ''kahoonas'' to take one tenth the tribulation you have seen. I would not make a good ''pimple on your butt'' when it comes to ''determination'' like you have. God bless you for your service to my country.
Like they say....... I once complained because I had no shoes and then I saw a vet with no feet.......
I will stop now but I would consider it one of the greatest honors of my life to meet you in person someday.

I think we should bring our troops home real soon ....

Seajay, you and Willa can darken our doorway anytime we cross paths. Any particular libations that tempt your pallete ? Leave the dogpoo comparisons for the meek that ran off to canada or refused to serve. Like the flag says "All gave some; Some gave all", but at least we served and didnt hide out waiting for others to fight our battles.

The DW is the one with the giant "kahoonas", she was 7 months preggy and on the opposite coast from our parents, alone and with a burned veggie for a mate is NOT where a young lady should ever find herself ! She was a trooper thru it all and even stayed with me when 7 months later I decided to return to try again, hoping to get it right. The USN still says I was the precursor for the 6 Million Dollarman TV show, lol

Once I get the M/H out of the Repair Shop we will do shakedowns and ready ourselves for DW's retirement and selling of the Sticks and Bricks to enable fulltiming !!!

Maybe we can gather together, hoist a few and work on them "butt pimples" or at least tell tall tales and clearly state that "The older we get the better we was" !!!

I do NOT suffer from mental illness, but rather enjoy it daily !

Sad part about this is the DRs and myself have told her for many many years that she needed to lose weight; she said she had to have her sweets;
now shes not only paying for her overweight; but so am i.
Shes 4 feet 11 tall; she weighs #190 about #80 overweight.
I'm haveing a realy hard time feeling sorry for her.
I married for better or worse; I guess this is the worse part.

I've come to recognize your user name by the many posts in which you complain about your wife.

I mean this kindly; perhaps you should consider counseling.

I woke up this morning, opened my eyes, could still see. Swung legs off bed and stood, warm and vertical. Life is good

Yep, as long as my wakeups equal my go to sleeps, I consider life as good!

I think I want my wake-ups to exceed my number of go-to-sleeps by one for a little while yet...

I agree; I have no b---s, If I did I would have dumped this looser years and years ago when she jumped in bed with the first male that asked her.
I have asked myself every day why I'm still here.

Perhaps the best answer I have for you is:

Unless you have walked a mile in a mans shoes;

The statement "Unless you have walked a mile in a man's shoes" removes you from the area of ridicule and advice. Nobody but you knows the full story.
