Not an Rv topic just talking, I can't believe how fast time flys! My oldest graduates High School in May then off to college! So much for a new rig anytime soon He & I (DW & DD staying home) are doing a different camping trip for graduation, I'm taking him old school backpacking through Italy for 2 weeks. Couch surfing, hostels and a lot of hiking. Last time I did this it was DW & I in Switzerland and Germany(19 years ago, maybe that's why he's here?) slaphead!! . Sure will miss the Rig but should make for some good stories.

Any of you ever been to Italy? Recommendations for off the beaten trail adventures?
Ron

I Love Italy...there was a "hill town" between Florence & Rome..Orvieto ...it was a wonderful experience there. You must also see the many touristy places in Rome and Florence- but do it on your own.
Italy is the only place in Europe that I would love to go back and spend weeks in.

What things do you have on your list so far?

Vatican city, coliseum, pantheon leaning tower, Venice gondola of course, mostly tourist stuff but not with a group, no set schedule really. Fly into Rome stay in Hostel a couple nights and explore then walk, ride to another city. And so on. Never been there so not sure, when we were in Germany we just got in the car and headed out, found what we found and it was great! Were up for suggestions of the beaten path.

Speaking of "It goes so fast", my oldest will probably be looking at retirement in about 10 years. Uh!

Got close once but ran out of money. I always have wanted to go to the town my great gtreat great grandfather was from in Northern Italy. It's one the road between Verona and Venice. Little place by the name of Vicenza.

An aunt of ours went there a few years ago and the people she came in contact with fawned all over her because of the last name. Not too many people have heard of our clan even those from the city where we originated.

What's the name of your clan? Sure it's not possum. Send me a Pm with the name, address and if we are in the area I stop and give them a warm hello from you.

My last name is a derivative of the city where we originated.

Dalla-Vicenza (family name) Vicenza (city or origin) If you go to Verona and head to Venice you will pass through Vicenza en route.
