It must've been meant to be...

I was going through & shredding a bunch of old utility bills to make room in file cabinets for future paperwork filing. I came across a stack of phone bills from when Dave & I had our 1st apartment when we got married (30 years ago). As I was shredding them (& marveling at how little we paid back then!), the phone number jumped out at me. The area code & exchange were exactly the same as my FMCA membership number: 419886.

With all the memberships FMCA processes, the chances had to be thousands to one I'd get assigned THAT number. Must've been fate.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

It could be worse.. My parents for many years had the number

xxx-yyy-7001
The local Pizza Place xxx-yyy-7007 or 7004 (Forget which)

The local Nudist camp (And I still have that number from when they were a coast-2-coast park) the other of those two. (It is in my C-2-C directory don't you know).

Remember when how little we paid for service?

Remember when you needed a phone, call and they would come and install one the next day?

Remember when if the phone didn't work, go next door and call, they would come the next day and fix or replace it?

Remember when there was a phone booth on most every corner where we could make a call and get in out of the cold winter wind at the same same time?

Remember when there was real customer service?

Oh that's right, that was when the massive, terrible company called Bell had to broken up into smaller pieces to protect us from evil.

I never worked for the telephone company, but lots of my family did. They predicted the decline of telephone service when Bell was broken up. They were right.

Dog. if you want to move that to a new thread I can tell you some stories. but that is a long way from this topic. Mine is on the coincidence of numbers.. Not the quality of telephone service. But I do have that covered as well in my personal history file.

Sorry. Maybe a mod can delete it for me.

Unlike other boards I can't edit it out after the post has been up awhile.
