From one Jayhawk to another: Perhaps this is one of many.

WAY OUT WEST IN KANSAS

The sun's so hot that eggs will hatch
Way out west in Kansas,
It'll pop the corn in a popcorn patch
Way out west in Kansas.
An old mule coming down the path
Saw the corn and lost his breath,
He thought it was snow and froze to death,
Way out west in Kansas.

There's a man who loved his wife
Way out west in Kansas,
They must live a peaceful life
Way out west in Kansas.
There's a reason why each night
They hold each other's hands so tight,
If one turns loose it starts a fight,
Way out west in Kansas.

There's a gal in Abilene
Way out west in Kansas,
Says she's just turned seventeen
Way out west in Kansas.
But she's so old she's muscle-bound,
Folks all say she built the town,
For she's turned seventeen around,
Way out west in Kansas.

There's a man that grew so tall
Way out west in Kansas,
If he ever start to fall
He'd be out of Kansas.
He grew so tall, I do repeat,
He'd be as long as our main street,
But there's a lot turned down for feet,
Way out west in Kansas.

There's a man called Cross-eyed Pat,
Way out west in Kansas,
You can't tell who he's looking at
Way out west in Kansas.
He cried because he's such a wreck,
The tears ran down the back of his neck,
He don't look straight to me, by heck,
Way out west in Kansas.

Two young women were out walking in the country on a hot summerís day when they saw a beautiful lake close to the road.

'Itís so hot! Letís go for a swim in that lake to cool down!í suggested the first woman.

'But we havenít got any swimming things to put on,í said the other, 'We canít swim naked!í

'Oh, donít worry about that!í reassured the first woman, 'Thereís nobody here to see us.í

So they took off all their clothes and got into the lovely cool water for a swim. After a few minutes they noticed a farmer walking towards the lake carrying a large bucket.

'Are you here to ask us to get out of the lake?í the first woman asked.

'I think heís here to look at us!í said the second woman.

The old farmer frowned and held up the bucket: 'No, Iím not hereto tell you to get out of the lake and I didnít come here to watch you ladies swim naked.í he replied.....

ĎIím just here to feed the alligator.

Thats close! He had more verses and it seemed the song went on all day long! One of them mentioned the town being so small that you could stand in one spot and knock on everyones door there!

Here in lower MI it's been in the 90's the past five days and the good old weatherman says we can expect at least another six days strait of the same. The high projected for the 4th is 99. Whew!

Just started raining here a few minutes ago (Northern Ohio). And it's a nice slow rain...It's been about 5 weeks since we had any rain we could actually measure.

All we have to do is walk outside. The sun is shining (need sun glasses) and about 60*. They are predicting 64 and no rain today. Yaaa. First year I can remember using the furnace in July.

What kind of Whine do you all want with those high temperatures.

It's only 11AM and it's already over 102 degrees in Phx. What a bunch of

My neighbors over in Forks, Washington are so fed up with the cold, wet weather that they've decided to fly in the face of tradition and actually Do Something About It!

Here in Western NY outside of Buffalo it's a comfy 73. Never has hit 100 here. Summers are great here. Winters are great too, but we brag about the snow to keep the riff raff out...........It hasn't worked, they're still getting elected!

Seems like the wet weather has also dampened(pun intended) their ability to think straight.

It's true...they did blow it in the "be specific" department.

You'll note that the language on the jar says only "Please Help Stop the Rain" rather than the (intended?) "Please Help Stop the Rain HERE".

Judging from nationwide weather reports, the twenty-five bucks raised so far has undeniably had an effect- everywhere except here in the Pacific Northwet!

I think all of y'all that are getting the "benefit" of that campaign should post some complaints in the comments section of that article...

As dry as it has been here, I really don't want any rain. Sure, it cools it off, but the next day, it's so muggy, it makes you forget about the temporary cooling it brought.

Nope... no rain in Kansas... Watering to keep the foundation from heaving, causing gas leaks and water line breaks.... and the bare bones plants from dying is becoming my full time job. Don't care about the annuals, don't care if the perennials stop early and resume their dormant nap.. don't care if the grass goes dormant, watering it sparingly to keep it barely alive... but dang, the trees are our only shade and there aren't many of those to begin with! Must keep them alive!
