You have to have the right personality to do a Jack Russel right, and understand what an "Alpha" is! If you do, there's not a better companion dog around. If you don't, God help you.....
He sees a Rottweiler when he looks in mirror!

We have one that is about 8 years old. She has her moments but the big thing with her is the talking she does, she thinks she is carrying on a complete conversation with you. You won't find a dog that shows more love.

I have to ask, do I have the only hard headed JRT?
I will admit, she takes after her human daddy ( i.e. me).

Not hardly. At first though, it seems like you're always butting heads?
He's SMART! He'll be testing you constantly, much the same a young child will, to see what he can get away with. If you aren't used to handling a dog like this, get yourself some obedience training right away! The longer you delay the more bad habits you'll end up undoing.
In the end though, patience, consistency (on your part!) will lead to a dog that's loyal like no other - and did I mention SMART?

Our female Jack will smile at you every morning when you say good morning. Also when she is really happy you get a big toothy smile.
Our male is a talker. When he wants something he will start his talking sounds and keep on as long as you ignore him.
Our dogs love to travel, car, truck, MH, they are ready to go. They have more miles behind them than our kids .

As Owners You love them as Relatives or Friends we tolerate or Hate Them! Whatever the case those are the Best and the Worst of Dogs! No wonder the Kennel club can't decide if they should even be a Breed!
Cute Yes! Faithful Absolutely! Vicious You bet!
Would I want One..Not on Your Life!

Friends who have one call it a "Jack Russell Terrorist". Who was Jack Russell?

Reverend John Russell, born in 1795. In 1819 he purchased a small white and tan female terrier named Trump from a milkman in the hamlet of Elmsford, England. She formed the basis for his breeding program, and by the 1850s the dogs were recognized as a distinct type of Fox Terrier.

We recently sent our little "Sparkles" ( my daughter named her) to a one month puppy boot camp obedience school. We missed her terribly but ti was worth it.
She came back trained to an extent and we work with her as well ( she will be 1 in January), but there is no doubt, she has a mind of her own.
She fits right in with the rest of the family with her hard head, just wish she would go in her dog house or under shelter when it rains. She just likes squishing down in the grass.
Drives me insane to the point I think she know it drives me crazy and does it just to do that.
