The first coat of mud... New Year's Day 2015. In Fort McDowell just east of Phoenix and snow fell overnight up in the mountains.

Liberating Liberty

This seems tame by those standards, but this is our new toad. It's a brand-new 2005 Jeep Liberty with a bunch of miles on it. It's in good shape, and we hope it serves us well.

I'm going broke buying cars this winter; we got tired of the Honda Fit we were dragging around and traded it in for a 2012 CRV. We never even installed the base plate (it's now for sale, still in the box), when this Liberty caught our eye. The dealer fixed the AC, I had the rear brakes done, and it's ready to go, just as soon as I order another base plate.

We just got concerned about towing the Honda. The Fit was new and under warranty, but the transmission failed. The Honda dealer said that it must have been my fault and refused to honor the warranty. We finally compromised on a 50/50 split and I paid $1800 to get it out of the shop. We had liked the CRV we had seen the year before, so we traded for a nice 2012. We like it, but don't want to bash it up by dragging it through the countryside. Thus the Jeep, and the manual transfer case selection lever. AMEN!

So, that's OUR Jeep story so far.

Tom
Just noticed that our pictures did not attach. Bummer.

The CRV is one of the most popular TOADS but in 2014 they started with a CVT tranny which can't be toad. The Patriot you would have to read the manual. If the transfer case has no manual, oops!

I just bought a hardtop for my Wrangler to replace the soft top, so I would have both. The dealer installed it Thursday and when I got home to remove the soft top, it was still attached and couldn't get it out. That made the rear storage of the Jeep useless. Went back to the dealer and they gave me some run around and I told them to take back the hard top. Sent the guy who installed it out to see what could be done and he said he can take the soft top out, but would have to remove the hard top. Apparently this is the first one they have done. Taking it in Tuesday to have them do the job correctly. Love the Jeep but very upset with dealer now.

Nice hardtop! Did you buy it, have it made, or make it yourself?

ID:	85447 Heres a couple more pics. It finally narrowed to a point I couldn't get the Jeep through. A little Suzuki scraped both sides. I probably would have wedged it tight !
