Life lessons. What are yours?

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

Here are a few things I've learned:

Never trust a used car or a RV salesman.

The "hand of man causes most RV problems", (even if you're paying the man attached to the hand $120 an hour).

If it says "RV" anywhere on the package, or in the advertizing, it is overpriced, (and usually not needed).

Nobody cares
about your RV but you.

Most honest people are either retired or dead.

There has always been a grumpy old man in me, (but I didn't let him out until I got to be old).

Life is short. If you're not happy, change something. Retire as early as possible.

Never loan money to friends or family.

Never ever co-sign any financing for anyone for any reason.

Invest at least 10% of your earnings. Have a emergency fund, best to have 6-12 months income. Learn the difference between saving and investing and do both (you save for a vacation, you invest for your retirement).

Only go into debt for housing or things that appreciate or create revenue. Pay off the full balance on credit cards each month.

Life can change in a heartbeat. The 'someday' list might be tossed aside as a pipe dream. Make it happen.

Take a risk, it invigorates the spirit.

When in doubt, take a walk.

Others opinions are theirs. Hand it back.

Hand away stress. Let it go. It's healthier.

Do your homework. Decisions are known to be better achieved.
If it was bad, let it go. We are allowed to make mistakes.

Remove yourself from those who seek you for a dumping ground.

You spend a third of your life working, so find a job that makes the most amount of money, for the least amount of time.

You spend another third of your life playing, so find as many enjoyable hobbies and recreations as possible.

Finally, you spend another third of your life sleeping, so find the most comfortable bed and sleeping arrangements to get the most out of it.

No, actually it is love your kids unconditionally and be honest with them. They are a reflection of who you are and if you raise them right, you will know no greater joy. My 3 boys are the best people I know. Better than me.

Never buy Superman pajamas for the grandchild that sleeps in the top bunk.

Don't agonize over the things you cannot change, spend the time working on the things you can change.

A compliment or thank you doesn't cost you a thing but can mean a great deal to someone who needed it.
