OHSU IS only 17.4 miles from home. Traffic is bad at times though. One day it took us 2 hours to get to the hosp.

Update

Right now we're in the ER. They think she has the flu but still testing as it acted like a rejection episode. Couldn't keep food or meds down. Going to transfer her to a bed in the main hosp. for a few days till she can keep food and the meds down. Liver is fine, no rejection at all.

The are running all kind of tests and waiting for results. Still nothing really showing up as being a problem. Liver is doing fine so it's something else going on.

Hope all is well.

We're still jumping through (too many) hoops to get my ex-roommate on the transplant list.

Still nothing definite. They think there's an infection or low blood flow in her small intestine. They did a Esophogastroduodenoscopy yesterday and took some tissue samples. May require surgery.
Beyond that the worry is encephalopathy (chemical changes to her brain) or a stroke as she is not very lucid at times. Might just be confusion from the meds but she's pretty much off the pain meds.
They keep setting dates to move her out of ICU but then changing them. Yesterday they were planning on today and I haven't been over there yet to know.
BTW: did you know Medicare doesn't pay for Tylenol because it's an over the counter med? Neither does our insurance because Medicare doesn't pay for it. The hosp charges $83 a pill and they won't let me bring any in from home.
