Make Mine Freedom

1948 Cartoon

Just as important today as it was in 1948.

I believe, at our current state of affairs, it's perhaps more important.
A lot more could be said but I'm sure there are some 'Ism' proponents that would object.

i like that cartoon.
I do not at this point need or want any handouts from anyone.

just fyi, SS and medicare are government handouts. Just like free birth control or govenment paid abortions. Thing is, the last two will save the taxpayers money right now today. the first two, we pay until you die.

I'll have to respectfully disagree...at least on the SS part. I played the game for something close to 50 years and paid to the maximum for a good number of those years. I also based some of my retirement on the rules layed down and I expect my government to abide by their own rules. I paid my dues and I want some of the money I invested for my future returned. Although I'll probably not see it all, it is MY money - not a hand out, IMO. Bob

Yes and we just set here and take it. What about our grandchildren. Government is doing just what they want to do. We will all be making $5.00 an hour before long. What a disgrace of government greed and waste. When are the people going to get it together. When they want to take our guns? I believe it is coming. It is our country. jeeez! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

I handed over a lot of deductions from paychecks for SS and Medicare. Look back on your pay stubs, I bet you find deductions for it too. I kept my part of the bargain, and the gov't should keep their part. If they would keep the tax in the same pot it was taken out for, it should work. You don't take SS out of your check and use a little bit of it to save the little fishes when the tax was for SS.

I hope no one takes my comment that SS is a handout. SS is earned and paid for by the hard work of most of us. It was established because the government thinks we are not competent enough to manage our own retirement.

I do have issue with all the government programs established to support those who feel they are entitled. Even worse they feel that it is the responsibility of others to support them. ISM = Income to Support Me
